Does this wallpaper issue have any real basis in fact, or is  it just conveniently trotted out in an attempt to paper over the abject failure of the main Opposition party to get its own house in order?

Enough for the electoral commission to get involved,  its moved beyond tittle tattle. If found guilty, it would result in a resignation in normal times, but Boris will laugh it off, mess his hair up, say something a bit near the knuckle and carry on as normal because that's what you have voted for.

Johnson and his cronies want the Electoral Commission abolished or 'seriously reformed'

So Angela Rayner has not so much fallen on her sword as been pushed on to it by Starmer:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-57037839.amp

Sacked as Party Chair & Campaign Coordinator.  Surely a proper leader should stand up & take responsibility for failure?   According to the story, Ms Rayner is also expected to be 'offered' another shadow Cabinet role in a re-shuffle.  I hear that Ulster is nice this time of year.

John McDonnell, makes a point with his damming quote, that it's a "Cowardly avoidance of responsibility."

According to the BBC this morning, Starmer is looking for an advisor to take them forward on election strategy.  I hear a Mr D Cummings is looking for work.

A faliure of this magnitude is rarely the failure of one person. Starmer is clearly removing people who also bear some responsibility and possibly also don't fit with his plans for the future. An adjustment in people was always coming  and would always cause an argument, now is the best time to do it and allows him to move forwards with who he percieves as the right people in the right places.

Should he resign? Not at the minute.  What good would it do? Six months of arguing amongst themselves for who?

There isn't a clear replacement, especially one who would appeal enough to both ends of the party to make it any better,  However, for all the bad news, there is good news in there which points the way to recovery.

Come on, let's face it, when you cut through all the political speak all you get is Starmer virtually shouting, "Over there, yes, HER... YES IT'S ALL HER FAULT!"

Is this what "carrying the can" looks like? Maybe Starmer's legal mind has concocted a different meaning to that phrase than the one most of us think it has.

No hat throwing from Sadiq Khan yet?  He must still be in bed?   He'd better hurry up.

You would expect a campaign manager to go, in a byelection; the same for a leader after a general election.

Corbyn stayed for 2 election failures, Ed Milliband just one.

But it doesn't appear that Rayner has been allowed the option to honourably resign does it?  That opportunity was clearly denied her - unless it was on the table & she refused to go?

No doubt someone will spill the beans?
