The Labour Party - Part 2

You were arguing MPs should vote with their leader a couple of hours ago, now you're arguing they should be the voice of their constituents.

Do try to be a little bit consistent.

I said that they represent their constituents

They should toe the party line or keep quiet for the good of the party

You don't seem to know what you're saying.   If the party line differs from what their constituents want,  then how can they represent their constituents and still toe the party line ?

If I had my way,  party whips would be abolished and every MP would represent their constituents before the party.   Unfortunately,  it works the other way round.

Maybe we would get a bit closer to democracy then.

The constituents are the ones who put them in their seats and NOT the party whips.

How would a party ever increase taxes or cut funding, if it was unpopular with constituents?

quick update - on SMP's ceasefire vote 56 labour MP's have defied rubberband man and voted for it - will he sack them? (probably not)

Just confirms the Labour party do not have the discipline to be in government.

Very impressed with James Cleverly interviews this morning.  Hopefully he will introduce a new law to ban terrorists sympathisers and anyone else from climbing on War memorials.  It is outrageous the police did not arrest the person flying the Palestine flag on the War memorial.  He should be deported.

It's an insult to the veterans.

If any veterans had been around at the time then the culprit would have required police protection.

Did this really happen as there is nothing in the Guardian about it?

No anger from the Labour voters on here about this dissent in the party ?

Why would anyone be angry about people acting on principle? We need more of that sort of thing.

Off you pop to compare Jess Phillips’ resignation letter with Braverman’s. Then you decide which party has a problem.

It seems the rabid islamic rhetoric of labour MPs (who quit) are demanding a ceasefire in Gaza with  "The Fox" being ignored.
Our MPs are supposed to be a voice of the people but also a voice of reason. Will these MPs have the courage to tell their constituents they are being lied to about gaza and treat like donkeys by people who have no care for them and only their cause.
