Probably not, because he probably won't get fined.

If he is fined, he'll quit. You Tories should be afraid of that from two different angles.

Not worried at all but you are , a lot of probables there

I couldn't care less.

If he's broken the rules, he should go. Just as Johnson should go.

If not, he should stay.

Either way, the Tories are a busted flush at the next election.

Putting a bit of pressure on the Police , I think . Why do they have to broadcast this now ? Why not wait for the outcome ?

The most that they should have said is that they are honourable politicians and will await the outcome of the police investigation which would have put less pressure on the outcome.

They should of course step aside if they receive the fine, but only because of the hoo hah surrounding Johnson.

We are going  through a bleak time as far as political leaders are concerned

You think Labour can win a majority at the next GE?

theres been a lot, a VERY LOT of calls to resign from both the Right wing, tories etc, but also ive seen the same from my left wing / socialist mates, so it makes sense to tell people yes ill go if given a fine.

seems to be a damned if you do damned if you dont moment, now people are damning him for announcing it Oo

Winning this spat for the Tories is for those not much interested in politics to think 'All MPs are just the same' - that's why they've doing so much mud slinging. Durham police quietly announcing there was no breach of rules will not be noticed by those people and so would still be a win for the Tories - the mud will have stuck and not been cleaned off. By raising the stakes, Starmer has made sure more people will notice there is a difference between him and Johnson.

Amid all the speculation about whether he did break the rules or not, Labour have said it can prove it was as part of a working day and so within the rules. They didn't announce he'd resign if given a fixed penalty notice until after they had gathered this evidence so it seems like they are pretty confident in it.

As an aside - the video showing Starmer eating at the meeting was shot by the son of Breitbart writer James Delingpole.

if you want to quote for posterity - £250 to a charity of your choice if Labour win an overall majority at the next general election.

So what do you think they have done to merit your confidence? or is it more that the Tories are managing to balls everything up (bearing in mind they were doing that already under May and Johnson but still blew Labour away in both elections)

You'd like that, Britain, or what will be left of it, under permanent Tory rule, with an incompetent, lying elite at the top

Wow . And how many pages in all the papers did we have about Partygate ?

I love how The Mirror acted like champion of this, like they were the ones who discovered it. Yet:

Your money is safe.  The best the Labour party can dream of is a hung parliament and the Labour party having enough seats with the help of the SNP and Lib Dems to form a coalition government.

It's still a bit early till the next GE but I can already see shades of 1992 here.

Quote from wiki:

"Kinnock led the Labour Party to a surprise fourth consecutive defeat at the 1992 general election, despite the party being ahead of John Major’s Conservative government in most opinion polls, which had predicted either a narrow Labour victory or a hung parliament."

I now find the word Party amusing when used in conjunction with a political organisation.
