The Labour Party - Part 2

Recommended Posts

Harriet Harman has revealed today that she's decided to stand down as an MP at the next election. As the longest serving female MP in Parliament, she's made a fair few mistakes, but I think on the whole she's been a force for good in society, and has really pushed the issues that face women on a daily basis to the top of the agenda, as well as pioneering the 2010 Equality Act.

Its sad to see the No 10 party blame is now increasingly being put on Starmers shoulders for him not being tough enough or taking the government to account enough in the past.

It’s sad to see Sir Starmer using the sad death of a person to try to score political points

Politicians have a habit of playing politics, it’s very difficult to ascertain who is serious about what, however giving the opposition an open goal usually results in a score.

To be honest Hacks there have been so many people who've rung in to LBC recounting their stories of loss & not being able to say their final goodbyes, that Starmer is only saying what everyone else is

But what exactly is it achieving. It's all emotive hysterics designed to do nothing more that keep people talking.

Once again there's too much of the finger waving, point scoring and and outrage getting in the way of any actual investigation, clarification, evidence and hard facts.

Let's roll back here and look exactly at what the issue is. Harsh is it is, people who were unable to "say goodbye to their relatives" etc is quite frankly irrelevant to the specific circumstances being raised.  IF the government's position is be believed, this gathering involved members of staff who were already in their workplace. If no applicable precautionary guidance was broken and if there was no actual breach of any laws applying to work places in force at the time, then the emotive outpouring and frothy mouth outrage from people in the streets followed by the chancer politicos jumping on the bandwagon is meaningless.

I can guarantee that the civil servants in number 10 would not have been the only workplace having some form of gathering within their space during the extremely grey area that came during the application and interpretation of all these sudden rules.   Add on the amount of previous and current pushback, protest and blatantly ignoring by members of the wider public generally, one has to question what exactly is the outrage here.

It's been a year and still no hard evidence provided despite all these voluminous opportunities for leaks, whistleblowing and dirty tricks of the Press.  If there was such a wild parties as being claimed - that's a lot of people to be keeping their mouth shut.

As for the opposition themselves  -  they need to be careful. All well and good taking the moral high ground but what else is bubbling in their own background.  Less than 24-hours after the Scandal broke there were pictures of starmer allegedly enjoying beers against the rules, in one newspaper. How many labour staffers or opposition HQ civil servants gathered around the conference table for some lunch or a few glasses of wine next to the photocopier or exchanged Christmas gifts across the office??  All gloves are off now and I suspect it will only be a matter of time.

It’s called leadership.

Conservatives currently making the rules so to have credibility they need to stick by them.

It should be that simple.

Nobody has yet proven that they didn't stick to them. That is the point.

It's all speculation, rumours  and emotion filled opinion with our opposition playing political games instead of actually doing their job and finding the facts and evidence.

She might have overseen the Equality Act but the 'equality' didn't extend to sending her children to the local school in her Labour run authority during her time in office.

Like Blair, Abbott, (yes even dear old Leftie Diane) & even Corbyn, while telling everyone else to send your children to the local authority run primary or comprehensive & banging on about the elitist fee pay or grant maintained, entry requirement schools, this is where they chose to send their children.   I seem to remember Harman stating something about wanting to give her offspring 'The best chance in life', rather than sending them to the local Labour authority run  school.  Clearly she didn't want her kids mixing with the children of the local hoi polloi.

Harriet Harman.   More like Harriet Hypocrite!
