The Labour Party - Part 2

so she was the only local candidate put forward by the party? who had a vote in the process, did local party members get a vote, or just people on the committee?

3 local candidates put themselves forward for nomination

2 met the experience criteria and were established councilors

1 was the sister of a former MP

Instead of the 2 other local experienced candidates a medical student from Sheffield and a councillor from Kirklees were nominated instead to go up against Kim in the hustings which she, not surprisingly, won. Good luck to her in the election

My bold.

Even as a Tory voter, I don't believe that Lab will loose Batley & Spen & certainly Leadbeater won't need any luck.

Sentiment; judgement influenced by feeling rather than any policies or promises will sway the way the constituents vote.

I’m not a  socialist but admired Corbyn he is a conviction politician. After seeing and listening to Starmer I can’t work out what he stands for.

It will be a ballance between the policies of the 2019 election, untill new policies are formed. Very few Labour leaders had the leftwing policies that Corbyn had and some even openenly talking about being Maxists. Corbyn lost 2 election so he had to go.

So Labour will be stuck with Starmer until 2029 then?

The left want him gone ASAP,  moderate Labour supporters are more patient. Johnson is scrapping the fixed term parliament act, so we could see a general election in 2022 or 2023.

Once a GE has been called Starmer will be more vocal and we will see if he is popular.

I somehow think Boris will go the full term unless something drastic happens, so that will be in May 2024. That will give Starmer more than adequate time to formulate any non socialist policies that will enable him to be in with a chance of being PM.

I'd vote for Starmer, at this point almost anyone would better PM than BoJo IMO.

Like more than 100,000 deaths, how more drastic do you want?
