Comedy gold!

A Labour supporter turning to & quoting from the Daily Mail on a piece written by 'Socialist firebrand' Lord Blunkett.

The piece was probably draft while sat in his home on the Wentworth Estate (not the council estate).

Oh the irony.  Tailor required as my sides have just split

I agree... You missed out the "ka-ching" of his bank account register though...:)

He states "To win, you have to convince the voter that you have a programme for the future, not a nostalgia for the past and a political outlook that is out of date" and then goes on to say Hilary Benn and Yvette Cooper should be in the cabinet....

I don't think there's any quick fix for Labour.   A cabinet reshuffle certainly won't sort it.  The comments on this article show there's just too many differing opinions where things are wrong:

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/may/10/retail-politics-movements-polarising-projects-promise

You've got everyone's gripes there - not left enough, still too left, too stuck in the past, Corbyn, not enough Corbyn and so on and so on. This comment has it right: "Labour is paralysed, triangulating between the elements of its broad church."

Maybe that church should start another branch and call itself the ANP,  Anti Neoliberal Party as there seems to be many of those believers about.

Not entirely true as this link shows:       https://www.thelocal.se/tag/crime/

Crime rate in Sweden is 1.08 lower than the UKs 1.20 and in Norway its 0.48,but Finland is higher.

Do you mean Wentworth Woodhouse? Doesn't rees-mogg's wife have a family connection to that place - and perhaps that's why the government are forking out for a new roof?

Thought Blunkett lived in the grounds of Chatsworth House

Unless I've missed something in their posting history, convert is anything but a Labour supporter.  And it's at least 30 years since it was remotely possible to describe Blunkett as a 'Socialist firebrand'.

Spot on, I have, in the past voted for Labour, most of my extended family are die hard socialists, and even some of them have stopped voting for Labour.

When an ex miner, who incidentally was arrested at Orgreave, and would quite happily dance on Thatcher’s grave, refuses to vote Labour in a former mining village you know the writing’s on the ( ever crumbling red) wall.

The time for socialist firebrands is over, the time for moderate, measured, sensible socialism is here.

Well, either that or revolution, power to the people Wolfie...

So there are the Greens to vote for, hardly heard about 10/20 years ago.

A friend said that 'Paul Halloran will split the Tory vote and Labour will get elected' for the West Yorkshire Mayor and that happened.

Perhaps he will stand in other seats and split the Tory vote again? If this could be done nationally, the Tories would increase the deposit needed to stand for election. The Tories dont care about fair elections.

I may look into this further.
