The Labour Party - Part 2

It is so institutionally racist that Jewish members of the party have started a campaign to get Corbyn reinstated.

He has a tremendous amount of support from several Jewish bodies and communities.

Hi Anna. How is this campaign going?

Can you give us some more details as it would greatly enrich the discussion.

If this isn't resolved satisfactorily, (and I'm pretty sure Corbyn will take it to court, where all sorts of things Starmer would prefer not to be made public, tend to float to the surface,) then I hope Corbyn will stand in Islington as an Independent candidate. He will win. And as an iIndependent in  Parliament, unconstrained by party affilliations, he may well be more effective than ever.

I certainly hope he writes his memoirs, but I doubt he will have the time, he'll be too busy helping people, rather than posturing.

He's already an independant member of Parliament.

How can he be more effective ? his vote is now worth err 0.15% of the total parliament vote (which is the same as before, but when he was leader he could influence party leanings). Now he has absolutely no influence, no party backing and is no more significant or effective than  Margaret Ferrier or Jonathan Edwards in the house of commons

How come he has chosen to totally ignore the many, many Jewish members and voters who have been vociferous in their support of Corbyn? Doesn't their opinion count?

You keep mentioning these "Jewish members".  Is it these?

Thats the thing yes, doesnt matter how "socialist" you are, without a large party, with a large backing and decent pledges that speaks to people you aint gonna get a sniff of the governments seats let alone get into power to change things for the benefit of the people, all this backbiting / fighting / resignations doesnt solve anything, it just weakens.

No matter how crap the tories become they will retain power.

How come you always ask questions but never seem to answer any?

People who get personal again, will be suspended. As will any individuals using wording like Smarmer instead of Starmer etc.

It’s quite reasonable to ask Anna to give some more details. She’s asserted that a significant number of Jewish members of the Labour Party are campaigning to have Corbyn reinstated.  It would greatly add to the discussion if she supplied us with some details of the size and scope of the campaign.

If you don’t like questions, you are probably in the wrong place.

No I don't have the slightest problem answering genuine questions, but I do find it odd when people ask questions and then never have the decency to answer, perhaps it's just me...

Point taken Groose, but how come people were ok to refer to Corbyn as Steptoe and such names? Although  I always thought it was light hearted unoffending banter

No it's not. It's really rather pathetic. Well enjoy it while you can 'cos you don't seem to realise, like it or not, we actually are 'all in this together.' Unless you're one of the 'few' I'm afraid you too are going to suffer from the future machinations of the Tory party and their 40 year experiment with 'winner takes all Neoliberalism, and the rise of the Mega-Corporations.

We're in a mess and you're flying without a safety net. Covid wouldn't have been so bad without years of Austerity, and we've yet to feel the real impact of it. Is your job safe? Ido hope so 'cos benefits which are already inadequate are going to become a thing of the past. Hope you have savings, or friends you can sponge off. But of course inflation is going to rocket with all this QE so they won't have much either and your savings won't be worth diddly squat in a year or two. Well, maybe you could sell your house and downsize, oh but nobody's buying are they, 'cos nobody's got any money and house prices are dropping like a rock.

Nearly 400,000 people are already in serious arrears with their rent / mortgage repayments as we speak, and foodbank use is going off the scale. Better start stockpiling just in case, but there's not much in the shops. Think your well paid job will save you? Well sorry, but there's no guarantee of that right to the top of the pay chain, in fact as we've seen from this pandemic, it's the low paid jobs that are essential. And yours? Well you're just too expensive mate...

Feeling a bit poorly now? bad luck, the pandemic all but wiped out the NHS so now it's all private, and it's fantastic - if you can afford it, but moving is more expensive than you realised now, and you didn't get the price you were hoping for.

But don't worry, the economy will perk up eventually, well it will for J*** B****  with his 139 Billion, he's making another few billion every day, maybe that will trickle down - but don't hold your breath, that's his money and he's keeping it. Why should he pay for the likes of you? Well actually he isn't, he's going to replace you with AI so keep your thieving hands off his money, after all, if he can do it so can you. Anyone can. Especially if you've got a few grand /spare million or so, for a new start up which of course you have, if you cancel the kids school fees and send them to the local Comp. And providing Boris doesn't decide to help himself to what's in your piggy bank with a new tax 'cos he's a bit short.

Then there's Brexit. We haven't even mentioned Brexit yet. Boris got it done alright. Just not very well. He kind of lost interest after the nervous breakdown. And there are holes appearing all over the supply chain and prices are rocketing again....

If only there was somebody sensible, honest and fair to help you sort this lot out, but there isn't any more.

Never mind.Thank God for Mrs Thatcher and deregulation eh. Where would we be without her...?

What's that got to do with your claim that there are many Jewish people who back Corbyn?
