Wilkesy 0 #1 Posted July 20, 2020 Hello I am going to be working in Sheffield town centre on fargate. I am wanting to drive in and park is there anywhere round that’s free to park, I don’t mind a 15/20 min walk. cheers
 Share this content via...
Padders 2,751 #2 Posted July 20, 2020 When I go into town, I always park in the Tesco car park on Spital Hill, drawback is only 4hrs free parking.. You could always park round the Gower St area (plenty of room there) its an easy 15/20 min walk into town, Barring that, plenty of buses available, don't know how much bus ride will cost, its only about 3 stops, got to be cheaper than city centre car parks. drolnhoj 15 #3 Posted July 20, 2020 (edited) Sussex Street and Sussex Road, which are just off Effingham Street. You can also park under the railway arch off Sussex Street. All about 10 mins walk from Fargate. Also blast Lane alongside the canal. Be aware, all are popular so spaces do get taken quickly. Depending on your working hours there is single yellow line parking on Effingham Street between, I think 9:30 and 4pm. Hope this helps. DeZeus 11 #4 Posted July 20, 2020 When I worked in the City Centre, I had at that time a Canal Cruiser, which allowed me Free Parking within the City Centre at the then Boat Yard, not sure if this still applies.
 Share this content via...

Even if it does still apply I guess they would need to buy a canal cruiser, which I suppose costs a lot more than paying for parking. 🤔 Edited July 20, 2020 by drolnhoj
 Share this content via...

nikki-red 295 #7 Posted July 20, 2020 When I worked on Scotland Street I always managed to get a free spot round there. That was around 18 months ago so not sure if it’s still the case.
 Share this content via...
Wilkesy 0 #8 Posted July 20, 2020 (edited) Okay cheers guys, working hours will be 9-5, I’d be coming from parkway side of town. Forget it Wilkesy, no such thing as free parking within Sheffield city centre, you are going to have to use your 15/20 mins walking time , and park outside of the city centre.
