Recommended Posts

Does anyone remember a boating lake at Western Park?  I just  looked on Google earth  and it seems much smaller than I remember,

but I am going back some it must have been in the 50's.

Here is a  link to a "picturesheffield" photo of the boating lake in Crookes Valley Park. https://www.picturesheffield.com/frontend.php?keywords=Ref_No_increment;EQUALS;s28892&pos=2&action=zoom&id=90545

That's the one I remember. There was a barrier on one end where we used to go fishing, the boats were on the other side of it. That would have been in the early 70's.

We used to call it Western Park pond...seems we were wrong.

I grew up at Walkley in the 50's and  always called Crookesmoor Park Weston Park.

I recall taking a boat out in the 80's, early 80s I think

Around that time we sometimes did the same on a Sunday afternoon in summer after having a pint or four in the Nottingham House.
