Leicester V Blades -Pl 16/07/20

Recommended Posts

With Wolves drawing this evening, suddenly this game becomes a massive opportunity for us....albeit a mammoth task!

A win tomorrow would see us leapfrog Spurs and Wolves into 6th spot, which would be no finer reward after our heroics against both of them recently.

Europe is a big ask, but we've shown recently that we are willing to go toe to toe with them all.

Should we silence that lad Vardy (who loves playing us) and should we grab 3 points, then it is well and truly open....despite a tough run in.

Last 2 fixtures (6 pt shoot-out, post LCFC)

Blades -

Everton (H)

Southampton (A)

Tottenham -

Leicester (H)

Palace (A)

Leicester -

Spurs (A)

Man Utd (H)

Massive, massive ask.....but in  usual twist to premier league football, there's a couple of 6 pointers in there! But.....we have to beat Leicester first.

If Bournemouth can beat em 3-1.  Blades should deliver 3pts.

Bit of a weird one that though wasn't it padders?

The penalty and sending off changed the game. Prior to that Lesicester were in front and looked like potentially seeing it out, despite Bournemouths theeat... It was actually 4-1....the other three coming after going down to 10 men.

Can't really take anything from that result.  It was gifted....

Don't forget that Leicester will be missing the pace and presence of big Soyuncu following his red card.

Difficult task for us dealing with the pace and goalscoring instincts of Vardy, but at the other end of the pitch, can they deal with  our twin goalscoring threat of McGoldrick and Egan?!

Your playing Leicester at the right time, they've been poor last few games, a perfect opportunity to take advantage then who knows as it's really opened up near the top and both your remaining games are difficult but certainly winnable

Mmmm...

According to Keith Edwards Blades have had a "brilliant" season, whereas Leicester are merely "good."

Unless signings are made, Blades are rumbled next season - not so brilliant, and relegation scrap ensues.

I agree with that Steve, Blades have had a brilliant season, but I think they can thank Hendo for that.

Midfield was very ineffective to say the least, not getting the ball up to the front resulting in too much pressure put on our defence. Thought they did well to keep it down to 2 goals, mainly thanks to Henderson.

As Wilder said post match, "Out of it from the 1st to the 90th minute."

Having said they'd finish around 13th or 14th with approx 45 points or so, I'm in the 'We're having a great season' camp but we do need to invest & improve next season, including looking for a permanent replacement for Henderson who could be sold from under us at a moments notice.

No complaints from me, great game plan from Leicester and they are not 4th in the world's best club league for nothing.

It's been a brilliant season,  apart from the whole Covid thing of course, and apart from the three points that we should have had against Villa.

Been some great away days and some great home performances, and top flight footy again for next season.

UTB.
