Working At The Old Firth Park Library 80s/90s

Recommended Posts

Who remembers the staff at the old Firth Park Library next to the Clock Tower Building on Firth Park Road? I remember the librarian in charge Andrew Milroy, Keith, the Hospitals librarian, June and Jean the cleaning staff and library assistants - Shiela, Val, Sandra, Margaret, Monica and Kay.  Is anyone still around and enjoying retirement?

This library was my  introduction as a child to books in the 1950s.  The building was split into two, one side being the Children's section and the other for adults.  It was located next door to the boating pond and refreshment rooms where we could buy ice creams in the summer.  I can't say I remember any of the staff but I do remember the experience of visiting the library.  I  still have a love of books and reading to this day.

You must have a good memory Golden Oldie !! I spent lots of time there in 1950's & 60's  but can't remember anyone. Really good library though.

I too remember it from the 1950s onwards until it moved to the old Co-op at Firth Park. I remember some of the staff too having taken my children there in the 1960/70s. Lovely old place and far better than its modern day version .
