casualbystander
looks like the vandals have been out in bristol this morning lets hope this is ripped down smartly. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jul/15/edward-colston-statue-replaced-by-sculpture-of-black-lives-matter-protester
Pettytom
Doesn’t look like vandalism to me. If you are so upset, organise a protest. Get some mates, some cheese sarnies and have a day out campaigning for a statue to be torn down. That wouldn’t be remotely hypocritical of you. Nothing damaged, defaced or destroyed. Well done Bristol. Please send dictionaries urgently with the word 'vandal' underlined.

andyofborg
Perhaps the thing to do is have a different statue every couple of months. Use the site to showcase local talent in a thought provoking and socially distant manner

Good article too. Do you want to give any reasons why you want it ripped down? Should be interesting
alchresearch
Reading about the original Colston statue, it apparently angered and upset many locals for years. It seems odd that for a city built on slavery, why you'd put up with living there if you didn't like its roots?
L00b
I like anydyofborg's suggestion of rotating-showcasing statues. Very 21st century. Can we consider a statue to re-reg'ing wind up merchants?
Anna B
Not a permanent statue, but designed to provoke long overdue discussion and debate, which it is clearly doing.
