It's the same John Major who didn't respect the democratic choice the British people made which was to leave the corrupt EU because he wanted another referendum to overturn that democratic choice. If John Major had vetoed the Maastricht Treaty then there would never have been much desire for our country to leave the corrupt EU. The truth is John Major has no justification to criticise Boris in any way because unlike Boris he has no respect for democracy and is an utter disgrace even more so with him being a former Tory prime minister.

Could you elaborate please?

The same John Major who signed the Maastricht Treaty without a having a referendum which should have taken place as it fundamentally changed our constitution (written or not). The same John Major that is very Pro EU and anti Brexit. The same John Major that wanted a second Brexit peoples vote/referendum as he didn't like the result of the first democratic vote. No wonder this is in the Guardian.

That dog whistle is getting blown again.

David Davies once said - "If a democracy cannot change its mind, it ceases to be a democracy" therefore any decision must have a chance to be changed. Thus the whole brexit process was undemocratic!

And Boris has no respect for democracy - what is said by BoJo is a GoGo... despite him being a liar, cheat, bully and racist PM!

How come as the democratic decision did change and overturned the previous 1975 democratic referendums outcome.

What you really mean is that it didn't change to your liking! BTW did you vote in any of them?

Yes indeed and the same John Major who would not sign it untill he could, gleefully, with a large grin on his face, opt out of the social charper thereby ensuring we had the lowest pensions in Europe and indeed the civilised world and the worst working conditions and no more a respecter of democracy than Starmer.

A snippet:

Quote

This is a government that lies. It lies because it is led by a prime minister who long ago forgot the difference between truth and falsehood, assuming he ever knew it to begin with. It lies because the prime minister has always said whatever he needs to say to get a laugh, a vote, a cheque or a reprieve. It lies because the prime minister found that lying was easy – when he lost one job on the Times for lying he got a new job on the Telegraph, where he lied some more.

This is a government that lies. It lies because lying never harmed its leader’s political career and, when he was fired from a shadow junior ministerial position for lying on a small scale in 2004, he went on to win the Brexit referendum in 2016 by lying on a grand scale and then became prime minister in 2019 to lie on an epic scale.

This is a government that lies. It lies because it is a lame-duck administration of charlatans and clowns, an echoing void where the government of the country ought to be. It lies to make it from one scandal to the next, from the scandal about wallpaper to the scandal about lobbying to the scandal about the partying to the scandal about Jimmy Savile to the scandal that will break this week and every week after that. ...

This is a government that lies. It lies because, despite all it says to the contrary, it quietly despises Conservative voters and thinks they are either such fools that they believe their leaders’ lies or such cynics that they admire the rat-like cunning their leaders display when they lay their false trails. It lies because a generation of amoral commentators assured it that the truth no longer mattered as the electorate had “baked in” the prime minister’s willingness to lie.
