Dodged a bullet, there. Problem is, they still have a large magazine.

The Tories parachuted Grayling into a job and he missed the ground. Grayling probably paid a private contractor a few million quid to pack his parachute as well.

I like the Tory quote”the first man to lose a rigged election “

Perhaps an indication of why they are so upset at Lewis is contained in this article:

Lewis’s chairmanship has paved the way for the Russia report, which was sent to Downing Street in October, to finally be released.

The report includes evidence from UK intelligence services concerning Russian attempts to influence the outcome of the 2016 EU referendum and 2017 general election.

Following speculation the new committee chair, who was widely expected to be Grayling, could delay it further or rewrite it, a short statement from the committee said it would be released within days.

A spokesperson for the ISC said: “The committee has unanimously agreed this morning that it will publish the report on Russia prepared by its predecessor before the house rises for the summer recess.”

Considering the outcome...don't you think he asked Mark François for a favour instead? ;)

You never know with this lot L00b, maybe the original plan was to put Grayling in charge with explicit instructions to get the Russian report published as quickly as possible. Thereby guaranteeing it would never see the light of day.

None of the new Tory voters will be bothered, as long as we carry on with brexit. And long standing Tory voters certainly won't care

Honesty, integrity and democracy has been lost in this country :(

The ridiculous thing from this is that the government tried their damndest to rig the committee to have a majority by removing the cross-bench peer Robin Janvrin.  The idea was that the 4 Tory members would vote for Grayling and should have been enough to install him as chairman.  But in proper cloak and dagger style, ALL opposition MPs of the committee voted for Lewis and Lewis voted for himself securing the majority.

Wonderful quote from the FT about this;

"One senior Conservative MP said the appointment of Mr Lewis as chair came as a surprise as No 10 had “stacked” the committee to ensure that Mr Grayling was elected. “Shooting fish in a barrel is supposed to be easy. It seems one of these fish shot back,” he said."

And in a pique of spite the Tories have withdrawn the whip from the member of the committee who won.

Criticism of the Party cannot and will not be tolerated, least of all from within.

. . . . .and all of a sudden Raab is having a pop at the Russians about influencing the 2019 General Election . . . . . and the evidence he produces of leaked documents about the NHS, was something that slurs Corbyn for using said leaked documents . .

This makes me think  - What else is there in the report that makes it worth hiding when a  cheap shot against Corbyn is ingnored until now.
