Corbyn got 'substancial damages' (which he has given to charity) as well as costs.

I just wish he'd done it sooner when it mattered.  Never has a man been so successfully smeared

Still didn't go to court though, it's an out of court settlement. The threat of being sued is different to actually winning a case. The damages is simply a figure they arranged themselves, could be miniscule, and because it didn't go to court no one will know what it was.

Anybody can make an accusation against someone. If they are not confident enough to defend their claim in court it inevitably begs the question of whether they believed it in the first place.

Enough, I'm out. Let amateur hour reign forever.

The world is a complex place. If your argument only works if you ignore those complexities, it's not a good argument. If you refuse to acknowledge those complexities, don't get upset if people call you out on it.

Tory MP for Don Valley Nick Fletcher claims that casting women in TV and film roles previously given to men, such as in Doctor Who or the James Bond franchise, risks leading young males into crime because the only cultural role models left for them are criminals.

Recasting male heroes as women risks driving boys to crime, claims Tory MP | Politics | The Guardian

What nonsense. Back in the 1980s when crime was absolutely rampant, Dr Who was definitely male, James Bond was played by Timothy Dalton and Roger Moore - but then the Prime Minister was Margaret Thatcher. Enough to turn anyone to crime :hihi:

It's very odd because when I read opinion pieces in right wing rags, many of their 'commentators' complain about young people being too 'woke' or do gooders wanting to go to university. Very few of them complain that young males are being driven to crime because the Equalizer might be a woman.

Does he have a point, or do cuts to police personnel numbers,  and youth services have much more of an impact on criminality?

I wonder if he thinks his colleagues in the HoC could become role models for our young men? After all, many of Mr Fletcher's colleagues are the very epitome of good conduct, and not at all interested in venal money grabbing :)

Patel has now been uninvited to a meeting in France as a result of Johnson’s tweeted open letter containing demands in advance of discussions.

Have we ever suffered a less able P.M..
