Meanwhile, Johnson has appointed a personal trainer to support his fitness regime.  The trainer says his training "considers the mind as much as the body".

As Basil Fawlty remarked about a guest in his hotel: "There's enough material there for an entire conference."

Could have sworn the comment was about Fawlty by a psychiatrist.

I wonder if he will be claiming it on expenses, the good old taxpayer there when they are needed.

It will be interesting to see the new leaner Boris Johnson. Tom Watson managed it.

Reports that Johnson will resign due to ill health around the time Cummings is reported to be planning to leave post in the New Year just after Brexit. Who’s up for the poison chalice?

The government has issued lengthy guidance to English schools in local lockdown areas just days before reopening for autumn term.

The Department for Education faced an instant backlash after saying among the guidance that secondary schools could have to use a “rota system” to limit the number of teenagers attending at any one time, with teachers and pupils required to wear face coverings in communal areas.

So now they decide what is happening after all the time they have had they leave it to the last minute. Why wait till now to tell schools they could have to use a rota system, why not before which would have given them time to plan one.

The Government are just a shambles.

New poll shows Conservatives have lost 26% lead over Labour in 5 months. As it's an Observer, which is a Sunday paper, report rather than The Guardian, it looks like a pre-announcement before the main article tomorrow.

The report and polling data are now available on the Opinium site.
