The Conservative Party - Part Two.

Recommended Posts

Quite understandably The Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice group said they are "sickened" by the party took place on 18 December at Downing Street, when the Covid restrictions operating at the time banned such events. Just 2 days before the party took place, in a Downing Street press conference on 16 December, Boris Johnson said:

"This Christmas it's vital that everyone exercises the greatest possible personal responsibility."

It's just another old washer woman political point scoring story. The people at this alleged gathering were all there because they were working there.  Similar alleged gatherings will have happened in places of work all over the country.  Sir Keir Barrister Boy Starmer is an embarrassment for wasting his questions about this alleged gathering at PMQ's

Rachael Reeves running to Headmaster like a child complaining about Geoffrey Cox . Didn’t like it when she was told , nothing to see here . It’s embarrassing

Exactly correct. Embarrassing is the correct word. If the alleged incident at Downing Street was that serious of a breach then why has the source waited nearly a year to tell the BBC about it?  There is always someone who has an axe to grind about something that like to stir up trouble.

Throughout the pandemic many if not most of the population will have suffered privations, not being able to socialise with friends, loved ones; some people in care homes have died a lonely death because they were not allowed to see relatives.

Such an incident where those at the seat of power are doing things that they are telling others not to do is in the public interest. But what's the alternative? Keep everything quiet to save Johnson's blushes?

I certainly know at my workplace, no such gatherings would've been allowed, and listening to LBC, many people said exactly the same thing, that all Christmas parties where they worked were cancelled. Tom Swarbrick, one of the presenters on LBC, who used to work at No. 10 Downing St when Theresa May was PM, put forward the possibility that the person who leaked this information, did so after they stopped working at No 10 Downing Street.

You mentioned embarrassment, frankly you're the one who should be embarrassed, when you're so publicly cringing and crawling in front of Johnson and his government when they have clearly broken their own guidelines. I'm not surprised that The Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice, and many others are spitting blood.

A YEAR later - why not at the time - or is this more publicity seeking??

As I said in my post it could well have been that the person who leaked the information, did so after they stopped working at No. 10.

Given that who ever leaked the information didn't attach their name to the leak, I think we can rule out publicity seeking :hihi:

But yes, exposing wrong doing, very naughty of them. I know, let's shoot the messenger.

We have a new covid variant spreading across the country, it's approaching xmas party season and government ministers are giving inconsistent advice. It's not at all surprising that 'what the Tories did last year in breach of their own instructions' is considered newsworthy.

You can just imagine the opposition's ads at the next elections: "When they told you not to see your loved ones at xmas, they had an office party", "When they told you not to travel, they went to Barnard Castle", etc.

As I don't spend my time looking for 'news' to spread about any political party, I don't know, or want to know, how accurate this is, or why the individual concerned probably broke an agreement not to disclose information gained during said (assumed)previous  employment.

Given that it's in all over the media I'm surprised you missed it....However given that you've chosen to mention the fact that the leaker broke an agreement not to disclose information, and not the fact that the party happened, I've guessed that you don't want to know anything about it.

'All over the media' means very little to me I'm afraid - I take much of what appears to be 'news' with a large pinch of sceptical salt, and don't spend much time poring over it.

And as the same sort of behaviour appears to be surfacing in this topic as it did in the CV-19 (Part 2) before SFBeca suspended it - I shall withdraw from this as I did from that - won't even be opening it for any direct replies.

No I'm too busy trying to sell a mammoth story to one of the red tops about a fat bloke with a funny hat, who broke covid rules at an unnamed pub by collecting a tray of drinks from the bar when strict table service only rules were in operation.

Oh okay, well good luck with that.

Oh dear Anna, you must live in a state of constant pessimism/depression. I would seek help, for the sake of your mental health.

You seen the waiting lists for help with mental health? Thanks to the Tory cuts it's virtually non existent....

Own goal mate.
