The Conservative Party - Part Two.

Well done Stephen Barclay for not caving in to Kay Burley on Sky News who tried 11 times to get him to apologise for the avoidable covid deaths.

I've got three things to say about this:

Firstly, most fair minded people know that hindsight is a wonderful thing and  won't  "blame" the government for Covid deaths.

Secondly, why don't news outlets such as Sky News stick to reporting news and asking questions, and accept interviewees answers instead of trying to manipulate them into saying they want them to say.

And lastly (a cut and paste from Wiki) - In December 2020, Burley admitted to breaching London's tier 2 coronavirus restrictions when celebrating her 60th birthday. Her actions allegedly included meeting up to nine individuals outside of her household, breaking the 11pm curfew, and socialising inside two restaurants and her own home. Burley was later suspended from Sky News until June 2021, and withdrawn from consideration for the Royal Television Society's journalism awards.

Kay Burley is a horrible interviewer , full of her own self importance  , shes right and everyone else is wrong . So happy Sky moved her to the morning spot so I dont have to see/listen to her

I've no view on her.

The joint report from both the Health and Social Care and Science and Technology Select Committees is damning in its criticisms.

A third rate minister in the shape of Stephen Barclay refused this morning to apologise 7 times when questioned about the many thousands of unnecessary and preventable deaths from Covid 19. The Government response, the report said:

Was the worst public health failures in UK history.

Even Johnson apologised on TV when the official death rate hit 100,000.

What makes Barclay think he's above apologising to those families whose loved ones were amongst the many thousands who lost their lives unnecessarily?

Standards have changed over the years - although listening to the Tories you'd have thought they were carrying on standards going back to at least Churchill (or Disraeli if you're Rees-Mogg).

Can anybody think that Profumo would have had to resign in this day and age?

Or Cecil Parkinson?

And yet no-one on a ministerial level has resigned because of the handling of the pandemic.

I mean you could say that Cummings was sacked - he certainly was. But that was only because he fell out with Princess Numnuts, or what ever juvenile name he gave Johnson's partner.

Calling Carrie Symonds silly names is a sackable offence! Being a useless incompetent like Pritti Patel is okay, presumably because if it weren't then Johnson himself would have to go.

I doubt whether any future Conservative opposition would ever again, with a straight face, call for a member of the Government to resign.

One thing that hasn't changed and never will, is the Conservatives arrogance, sense of entitlement, and firm belief that they, and only they, are born to rule over us. And heaven help anyone who says otherwise, they don't send their progeny to Eton to have the plebs and the little people telling them what to do....

That's what happens when you grudgingly allow democracy into a system created by, and for, the Aristocracy.

Surely it's better to have the country run by people who have benefited from elite schooling and are highly educated, rather than people like Rayner who are profoundly ignorant?

Having elite schooling and being highly educated doesn't mean that the people are any more intelligent than anyone else.

With regards to the running of the country, just look at the mess we're in now, much of it self inflicted.

To be honest Anna, I've got less of a problem with people like Johnson, Rees Mogg and the like. They have got that sense of entitlement and a belief that theirs is a divine right to rule. But none of that would mean anything if people lower down the pecking order didn't allow them to get away with it.

Its interesting that you think the education of MPs is important. Most top ranking MPs of both sides are well educated.

So perhaps something else is important?
