The Conservative Party - Part Two.

Recommended Posts

Rupert Soames, (grandson of Winston Churchill,) the already very well paid CEO of Serco, the company which failed with its expensive £37 Billion track and trace program, has been rewarded with a handsome bonus (£5million?)

So big Rewards for failure.

Yet nurses, the real heroes who saved thousands of lives at great personal risk to themselves, get a paltry and begrudged 1%

That tells you all you need to know about the Conservative party.

Did I really?   Well that's a very warped interpretation of my post. I didn't even mention the word "public"

Now can we stop putting words into my mouth.

The £5 million is the sum given to its workers. It said 50,000 workers would be given £100 each to recognise "the extraordinary efforts of our staff around the world during the pandemic".

Chief executive Rupert Soames told the BBC's Today programme: "It (test-and-trace) is now a remarkable success and I acknowledge it has taken quite some time to get there."

Ok, well it must be the government and/Serco's failure to own then.

So, much cheaper than the £22bn Serco one then.

Also, sometimes I wonder if I'm over caricaturing when I say that Tories always find someone else to blame, but some of the responses above tell me not to worry much. Because apparently it's the public's fault that the government's test and trace was a complete waste of £22bn. All our fault, nothing to do with them, you understand.

Just imagine if it was the Labour Party that had mishandled much of the pandemic & presided over one of the worst death rates in the world. That during the pandemic, the UK would suffer the biggest hit to GDP in Europe. That it "spaffed" billions upon billions of public money to its friends, donors and relations on systems that were useless. That its Communications Director broke the rules he'd devised, claiming he was "testing his eyesight", and then got a 50% payrise, while the nurses on the front line were told to be grateful with 1%.

More than that that its leader and Health Secretary made jokes about the pandemic 'Operation Last Gasp', and lucrative contracts going to friends etc etc.

I cannot begin to imagine the screaming headlines of the Daily Express, Telegraph, Mail, Sun.

The likes of those 'newspapers' wet their knickers over Meghan Markle, and statues.

Not to mention the usual suspects who are doing their best by forever trying to distract attention from their hero 'Boris', and complain on the Labour Party thread about Diane Abbott, or whoever their latest hate figure is....

Completely agree with that. Of course, had that happened there would have been others pretending the government had done no wrong. A person who picks a side decides to stop thinking.

I am sure some will support their side in public, but that doesnt mean that they stop thinking.

I am now a ex-Liberal Democrat, I dont think any differently to what I thought last week/month.

God sake if you are going to try and make some point at least quote so we all know what you are getting at.

According to the Financial Times, Rupert Soames personally received a £4.9 million bonus.

Indeed 50,000 workers getting  £100 each does equal £5 million, which would leave Soames with a bonus of nothing. That's not likely is it?

I read somewhere, (sorry can't find it now,) that the overall bonus package was £17million.

Either way, why should they get any bonus for failure when they already get paid for doing the job?

You've only got to look at this Forum as an example. The Labour Party thread is well into its second thread, is full of criticism - mostly from its own supporters! Whereas the Conservative Party thread is 82 pages long; in spite of everything that's been committed under their name, you'll see very little humility or regret.

I think people are happy to tolerate the likes of Rees Mogg, Cameron, Osborne and Johnson because they expect nothing better, and it's the 'rich man at his castle, and the poor man at his gate' mentality.

Though if some Labour Party politician speaks with a plummy accent, or eats avocados, it'll be 'champagne socialist' this, or 'metropolitan elite' that, like the tories have discovered some earth shattering news.

I couldn't agree more.

This awful reverential attitude to 'our betters,' 'our superiors' seems to be almost programmed into the English DNA.

It's about time we got over it, and realised how the system is rigged by them, for them, to keep them in charge, to the detriment of every other ordinary individual in the country.
