IIRC way back in 2008 the long term goal was to have Cameron as PM from 2010-2020 and then Boris 2020 (assuming they could win another term).

Boris was never my preferred candidate to become Conservative leader but he was the only person who could guarantee a Conservative majority election victory and avoid the nightmare of Corbyn becoming Prime Minister.

What is also interesting is how many of those MPs who wished to block Brexit are no longer MPs, seems like the voters decided they didnt want them anymore.

The UK coronavirus related death rate is roughly the same as France,  Italy and Spain according to the figures. Only Germany out of the top 5 Western European countries has handled the coronavirus better than the UK.

By what metric?

Don't know where you get your figures from.

The UK is worse than every European country and even worse than the USA when comparing deaths per 100,000 of population.

If you want to solely discuss Covid 19 please do so in the dedicated thread.

Thank you.

Looks like they've employed the old racist climate change denier as trade envoy.

Is there any old real Conservative on here who, hand on heart, can support this shower?

Think there's only the history re-writer that does on here.

We're about to lose trade deals with tens if not hundreds of countries and he's the best they can find to represent us to generate new ones? *shudder*

He's been appointed because he has experience in negotiating trade deals when he was Australian Prime Minister. It seems a sensible appointment because Britain haven't had British people negotiating our own trade deals for nearly 50 years.

He’s not been appointed for his experience in negotiating trade deals. He’s there for ideological reasons.

Here’s a bit of reading for you. You’ll have to sign up to the Telegraph free thingy to read it, but the Guardian seems to bring you out in  sores.
