In addition, the author is saying, wearing of face coverings/masks, and social distancing has to be tolerated for some time ;even after a vaccine is rolled out to the public. I notice that it is hard to find the research papers that allegedly support the pronouncements by the endless list of "Experts", authoritatively commenting on vaccines and treatments for Covid-19. Baron99 794 #738 Posted August 23, 2020 (edited) https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-53877683 Increased fines to be brought in. Good. Maybe it'll hammer home the need for continued social distancing & that it's everyone's responsibility to ensure that we limit the spread of the virus? Although I doubt for a tiny minority, it will continued to be ignored? Presumably the new powers will also give the police & local authorities the powers to act as I read the other day that the existing COVID-19 regulations, don't? redruby 279 #739 Posted August 24, 2020 Without getting into a debate about whether kids should go back to school in September, I do wonder what the evidence is for children not transmitting Covid as much as adults is. Unless I’m missing something there doesn’t seem to be any strong evidence to support this.
 Share this content via...

Unless I’m missing something there doesn’t seem to be any strong evidence to support this. I don't think there is any evidence of that and I don't think it has been proposed either. What is known is that children are very unlikely to suffer from the disease but will suffer long term by not going to school and mixing with other children as what happens now will affect them for life. Another point to make is that the parents of children of school age are mainly in the age category least likely to suffer from covid complications if they get it. altus 540 #742 Posted August 24, 2020 Coronavirus home test kits run out in England and Scotland. Quote Only 14.5% of tests taken at home or at satellite testing centres produced a result within 48 hours in the week to 12 August, compared with a third in the previous week. Nearly one in four of all 114,224 home tests in the week to 12 August took longer than 72 hours to produce a result, compared with one in 25 a month earlier. One in 20 home tests results were not completed at all. Not very good. People who want a home test typically do so because they can't travel to a test centre so advising them they have to travel many miles to a test centre doesn't seem sensible to me. What are they supposed to do, take public transport?
 Share this content via...
