RJRB #3253 Posted December 19, 2020 The one thing that really affects our “bubble” is that the one day is stipulated as being Christmas Day. Our otherwise totally law abiding meeting would have been Boxing Day. Heres hoping that the vaccines that are being rolled out are equally effective on this new strain. My OH will go ballistic if Strictly is delayed😄 Maybe they should just do like Escape from New York and not let anyone in or out of London. They are now speculating that people leaving London could be spreading the new variant around. Some sort of Berlin wall type structure, Trump should have plenty of unused bricks to sell us. He'll have plenty, he'll be <removed> em cos of what might happen once he leaves office 18 minutes ago, RJRB said: The one thing that really affects our “bubble” is that the one day is stipulated as being Christmas Day. whiteowl #3255 Posted December 19, 2020 I suppose we should count ourselves lucky in a way that they didn't shut the whole country again because London cases are surging.
 Share this content via...

despritdan #3262 Posted December 19, 2020 I'm a bit confused about the new rules. I texted my sister to say I wouldn't be able to go there on Christmas Eve as planned but she texted back to say I would as I'm part of their family bubble so it won't make any difference. Does a household bubble count as 1 household? I think Johnson's gone over the top here. I know he's under pressure to do something about the rising infections but it seems to be London and the south east where the new version of the virus is spreading. He could impose the draconian restrictions down there whilst reducing the number of days households can meet from 5 to 3 (24th-26th) for the rest of the country. I think there'll be mass civil disobedience over this as many people are already saying they'd rather pay the fine than have their Christmas ruined at such short notice. I'm in a similar boat, but I'm going to try and talk my mum from taking our "bubble" to my sister's. I'd rather write this Xmas off. This is from the BBC website. In England if you have formed a support bubble with another household, that counts as one household. BBC News - Christmas rules 2020: What are the new rules on mixing? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/explainers-55056375 I've also seen a picture of St Pancras station totally rammed at 7.30 this evening. That faster spreading variant is heading north.
 Share this content via...
