Becky B   31 #2833 Posted November 28, 2020 Everyone should take a Vitamin D supplement between November and March anyway.  The (frail) elderly are more at risk of deficiency as they are less likely to get outside at all, and many frail elderly are already on Vit D supplements...
 Share this content via...

It has also been associated with increased risks for fractures, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, autoimmune and infectious diseases, asthma and other wheezing disorders, myocardial infarction, hypertension, congestive heart failure, and peripheral vascular disease.  France, Australia, Canada and the Nordic countries, to name just a few, have fortified some foods with vitamin D for many years.  https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/lifestyle/food-drink/1291402/should-vitamin-d-be-added-to-bread-and-milk/  Did you know we should all consider taking a daily supplement of 10 micrograms of vitamin D each day? Funny how I remember each time the press interview someone very old and ask about longevity, 3 things come up - positivity, contact with other people and alcohol (usually a nip of something before bed). I've never heard of Vitamin D, or any other vitamins.  Perhaps they should not only encourage more contact with others for the elderly (yes, I know plenty of charities etc encourage that), but also a dram at bedime..... I think the link has been known for donkeys years. We still don't know if vitamin D prevents disease though. Correlation is not causation. No harm in taking it in case, and anyway for other reasons we all should be taking it during Winter.
 Share this content via...

Baron99   775 #2844 Posted December 1, 2020 (edited) Nina, who is a freelance producer, isn't sure yet if she'll be vaccinated in the future. But she thinks the amount of information around makes it harder to understand the science behind the vaccines.  "There are quite a lot of opinions flying around on Twitter, Instagram and TikTok. I think people are very easily influenced by that," she says.  https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-55128817  Well turn to the 'adult' news channels then rather than ill informed / uninformed ignoramuses on social media. Edited December 1, 2020 by Baron99
 Share this content via...
