I've just listened to the Government's Coronavirus briefing, and the take away message from that is "Just because you can do something doesn't mean that you should." IIRC I think that was in response to a question about either using public transport or hugging elderly relatives. Whilst I appreciate that nuanced approach, sadly, many with will either misinterpret that or not be responsible. I normally spend Xmas with my Mum, who is now in her 80s, however I have to use public transport to get there....I'm not sure if I want to take that risk tbh. petemcewan 27 #2811 Posted November 27, 2020 (edited) Let's see who comes out and gleefully tries to destroy public confidence in this vaccine. The safety of the vaccine is good. Even if the effectiveness is 62%,that is still good. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-55086927 Aside. Whoever supervised the administration of the wrong dose needs a bit of chastisement. Such a tinsy winsy error could result in the whole of AstraZeneca's empire tumbling down. Mike Yeadon has spoken out about the virus and how he doesn't think a vaccine is the way to deal with it. Sky news aus was saying a lot more testing is needed for the oxford vaccine and RT news said it only worked in younger people.#
 Share this content via...

Wasn’t he the one who was claiming that the pandemic was over? That’s clearly not the case. I don’t think he’s someone to take very seriously. The Oxford vaccine has just extended its trial to try to find out about the half dose thing. We already know it works, we already know it’s safe. We need to find out how well it works. A vaccine at 60% effectiveness will need more people to take it than one with 90% effectiveness. Either way, I’m very much looking forward to the start of the vaccination programme. petemcewan 27 #2820 Posted November 27, 2020 (edited) Rayggb. Bhakdi makes some interesting observations. PCR is used to detect infection with HBV ,HCV and HIV amongst others. One can find on social media claims that PCR is fraudulent. And the claimants invoke Kary Mullis the inventor of PCR and author of "Dancing Naked In The Mine Field" as proof. If it was no good can you imagine the repercussions.
