Universities in particular. Students gather from all over the country, and aren't known for obeying the rules. They will have been returning home for the last month, spreading the thing all over. 

Universities should have stayed closed as soon as a second wave was suspected and gone on line - not difficult. But then they wouldn't have got their enormous tuition fees would they? If you want to see the motivation behind something, follow the money...

We wouldn't need the Nightingale hospitals this time around if the Goverment lockdown properly.

Fascinating isn't it? All these Tory backbenchers now bleating about the impact of lockdown on mental ill health, poor people, communities. Hmm didn't hear them complaining about the mentally ill, poverty and communities during the austerity years.

Similarly, some MPs (mainly Tories) are quite happy to brush aside the dire warnings about economic chaos caused by Brexit; but are furious about the economic impact of lockdown if it involves saving lives.

Nice to know they've got their priorities right

True, its a joke,   it makes me laugh when I hear a students education is being harmed by a lockdown, but its OK for them to take a Gap year and take their hook backpacking  when its suits them.

What are you suggesting?

 

People will get around temperature checks by taking paracetamol before going shopping?

 

Even if someone did this, I suggested 4 things. The other 3 would help with any anomalies. 

 

It seems to be working in other countries. What do you think of the general idea of this 4 step process?

 

All wear face coverings

Temperature gun

Clean hands

and social distancing

 

before entering buildings.

 

If not, what suggestions do you have?

Not having a go but we would be snookered if major Supermarkets were closed,  but its true someone always makes a profit out of misery.

Amazon are making a mint at present, with earnings up 37%,

and this will clearly continue given the UK lockdown.   While only "essential" shops are open for business, if you want anything else, you can usually get it from Amazon.  With other UK businesses failing and /or shedding workers, Amazon are expanding .

Well they asked for a government bailout back in Spring. They were told to take a hike basically, and now this is the result.

They are also providing a lot of badly needed new jobs for those who have lost theirs (I know someone who got one which kept him afloat until he found a new job in his industry in Europe).

Apart from the obvious businesses who provide a service rather than a product,  there's nothing to stop smaller businesses selling online. I'm afraid if they don't already do so, it's their own fault by being so far behind.
