FFS, another day, another group of more than 6 meeting up.

3 were having breakfast here from 10, about 40 minutes later another group came in, they immediately started talking with the previous group and wanted to sit with them (7 altogether) when we said they couldn't, the first group paid and all trundled out together. They just don't get it, not respecting minor rules Now mean we will have a full lockdown for Christmas :( and they will be the first to whinge

Perhaps they all worked together, so they saw the 6 rule as pointless?

I havnt even got 5 friends, never mind them all meeting at once  :)

Given there were literally thousands of buildings unable to open you'd have thought the government could have pressed some of those into service and rejigged some of them into tempary schools.  Bit late now. Anyway, lockdowns coming, just later than it should be.

There are so many things that could have been done which would have prevented the situation being as bad as it is now. It was so obvious and predictable that it’s not so surprising that there are so many conspiracy theories around.

An estimated 570,000 people in homes in England had coronavirus in the week ending 23 October, according to figures from the Office for National Statistics.

What would that mean for how many people have had the virus since Feb/March maybe as many as 10 million in the UK?

And business lunches are exempt from the rule.

When the rules have so many loopholes why should people want to stick to them.

I doubt whether the report could could say it was the scheme that caused the increase?

More likely the people travelling to & from the restaurants, not observing social distancing or lying abouts being in their particular 'bubbles' but out with others from different 'bubbles' or even chancing going out, when they should have been self-isolating?

we're a small restaurant, only had one full year, so not that busy tbh, in that month we went from 2 - 8 people an evening to 40 - 50 every evening and booked up in advance, i dread to think how busy the bigger places were

And the Mail.

Presumably Boris will be wearing a Santa suit to make the announcement...................

Boris is being consitent in his "do what France does but the week after" approach to covid

Only last week Johnson was lambasting Starmer at PMQs for suggesting taking such an approach....

Why has news of an impending lockdown been leaked to the Mail and the Times on a Friday night 🤔

Because that is how this government operates. Tell your cronies first so they can find opportunities to make money, then tell allied press so they stay on your side and only then tell the public you are meant to be serving.

A full new lockdown is a complete nonsense, anybody who looks up the figures for the tier 3 cities sees that those measures work, just roll that out across the country and at least have the SMEs and self-employed that make up a huge proportion of the UK economy have half a chance of surviving this pandemic.
