Darkwitch14 0 #1 Posted June 25, 2020 (edited) Is this true ? . The one thing to come out of this nightmare ,was the thought of meeting Mum & having our lovely get together in there . Me having a Latte & a cheese & ham toastie & her having her cup of tea & muffin . If it is true ,then we will have to find somewhere else. northernboy 13 #2 Posted June 26, 2020 From BBC News : ”Some restaurant employees at crisis-hit Debenhams say they will be made redundant at the end of the month. Staff say they will not receive redundancy pay from the company and will not have paid notice periods. They heard during a conference call on 28 May that administrators had decided to close a majority of store cafes.” So “some” and “a majority”, don’t know about Sheffield specifically but it doesn’t look great. the_bloke 17 #4 Posted June 26, 2020 Debenhams has closed all it's cafes and the cafe is no longer part of their business plan. As regards to the space, it's possibly going to be occupied a different cafe chain rather than it being converted into more Debenhams shop space, but don't quote me on that. RiffRaff 10 #5 Posted June 26, 2020 (edited) I wasn't aware that D's even had a cafe! Just shows how observant I must be! Edited June 26, 2020 by RiffRaff
 Share this content via...
muddycoffee 10 #6 Posted June 27, 2020 It's blindingly obvious when you walk down the moor as the café is in the window. Was always well used.
 Share this content via...

I have to say that yes it may be but if anyone had asked me is there a cafe at Debenhams I would probably have said no - it had not registered with me Northernboy Sure the company may not be able to pay redundancy but qualifying employees will be able to claim from the National Insurance Fund
 Share this content via...

Not so long ago there were four. The cafe around the corner on Fitzwilliam Gate, now The Cabin, belonged to Atkinsons.
 Share this content via...

I only ever used the entrance on the corner, down the steps, passed all the painted and perfumed ladies, and then down the escalator to the male department. Never had need of the Moor entrance.
