Willie Thorne Has Died

Recommended Posts

It has just been announced that former snooker player Willie Thorne has died. He had been placed in an induced coma after a respiratory failure but has passed away.

Another memorable character from the great era of snooker.

Correct, very likeable bloke was Willie, never reached his full potential, probably due to his gambling and booze.

R.I.P. Willie.

Nice bloke.  Spoke to him on a few occasions.  When the snooker was on at the Crucible, he spent quite a bit of time in the bookies in Fitzalan Sq.

I used to love it when he did the impressions of other snooker players - superb

Wasn’t that JV?

Anyway, yes.  My preferred commentator of the old guard BBC lot and head and shoulders above those at Eurosport and ITV.  Phil Yates having an imaginary conversation with a rest being a prime reason why.
