People need to accept no technology is perfect. Hawkeye has been shown to not be perfect, would we all prefer it to not be there? I doubt it. It needed something like this to happen for the authorities to look at it and make it so VAR steps in if it looks like it hasn't worked.

A season is played over 38/46 games, if you are in the bottom 3 after that then it's because your not good enough, accept it and get on with it, they won't be short if a few quid getting relegated anyway.

Ref, two linesmen and goal line technology - that's all thats needed.

I agree although in principal VAR could be useful but it should be there to advise the ref if something that he should look at and the ref can then look at a monitor to make a decision, give the power back to the person on the pitch l.

Could you imagine the FA taking a point off Villa & relegating them & saving Bournemouth?  Then, surely they'd have to give us the 3 points, putting us above Arsenal & thereby awarding us an increase in Premiership prize money?

Never going to happen.

And if it did, United would only get two more points and still be below Arsenal on GD.

Do the maths.

Technology should be there to assist the officials but at the end of the day, the referee's decision should be final. It's part of the game in my opinion.

This really didn't need any technology, it was plain to everyone in that penalty area that it was a goal, except for the ref and the assistant. The Refs group are blaming the tech but the tech isn't the arbiter of law on a football field, the REF is!

The refs have abdicated responsibility to VAR and the Hawkeye, and the VAR, being a ref himself, was unwilling to go "err, you REALLY need to have a look at that mate!"

Result = a none decision,

and what's more, none of the Villa players or staff were honest enough to say anything...   totally despicable considering what happened with them last season against Leeds.

What happened to the idea of having additional officials at the side / behind the goal?

Did they do away with this idea  when VAR was brought in?

There was no need. I've seen one clip which shows the linesman standing on the line. Why he didn't draw the referee's attention to it is a mystery.
