iansheff
The Germans episode of Fawlty Towers has been removed for review due because it contains racial slurs. I suppose classic movies and tv programmes will have to be renamed because the BBC are scared they may upset people. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-53020335 Edited June 12, 2020 by nikki-red

the_bloke
I look forward to the removal of any output that slurs non blacks too; asians, orientals, whites, hispanics etc, because that is how equality should work, else it's special treatment. Jim Hardie
It's the one episode that never fails to crease me up. Nothing to do with racial slurs, just the sight of Basil goose stepping with a bandage round his head.

As this episode is directed at Germans then they're doing exactly that. I do have to agree with one of the viewpoints is that most often this type of comedy is directed at those who do behave in Basil's manner in daily life. A subtle nuance that is often missed by many. Yes, that programme was more offensive than the ones they are mentioning. Also what about Alf Garnett ?
Guest
You should see the old Dean Martin roasts, highly 'offensive' today but back then, everyone laughed. Something's were never meant to offend but done out of jest. To be honest, I watch alot of old stuff on YouTube and laugh- these entertainers weren't racist.
