markfor   10 #1 Posted May 23, 2020 Many people have put work into creating pleasant garden here  Now big shutter boards have been put up- boulders and stones thrown onto flowering plants Empty postcrete bags left to blow around  Anyone know whats going on? Presume building going up on site?
 Share this content via...
Guest makapaka   #2 Posted May 23, 2020 Noticed the old advertising hoarding come down the other week so presumed something was happening there.
 Share this content via...
Elmambo   25 #3 Posted May 24, 2020 The site has recently been sold at auction, the new owner has decided to fence it off. There seems to be no  planning permission for building. Whatever happens, I can't see it will be for the benefit of the local people.
 Share this content via...
arthurseaton   10 #4 Posted May 25, 2020 Was sold for £150000 apparently. Imagine buying that a month before the pandemic. Doh!
 Share this content via...

Presume building going up on site? New owner wants to build on it I have heard. Fences is first part of the campaign to keep locals out so they can apply for planning permission. A local councillor has taken an interest, and it seems the path on the land has been in use for decades by the public.
 Share this content via...
Guest makapaka   #6 Posted May 30, 2020 Have heard it’s going to be a couple of shop units and flats above.  sounds good to me - some modern retail space up there could attract something new to the area.
 Share this content via...

Guest makapaka   #8 Posted June 12, 2020 I think some new retail space up there is a good thing.  hopefully it will attract something interesting for the area.  maybe a new bar or restaurant or a couple of decent shops or something.
 Share this content via...
feargal   21 #9 Posted June 12, 2020 There's quite a lot of empty units up there already though. I assume they'll get better returns making flats.
 Share this content via...
