Shearing Holiday Group Have Gone Bust

Been reported Shearing holiday group has gone bust with the loss of approximately 2500 jobs gone   Bad news for both the employees and the customers who have trips etc booked with them.but I suspect this is tip of iceberg now with more to follow

Sad time's just seen it on twitter.  Fingers crossed one year from now we can say it's all over and move on.

National Holidays too.  Should the Government support them, are their/our pockets deep enough?

All parts of the same 'parent' group - 'Specialist Leisure Group' - which includes amongst others the Thomas Cook travel agents and a large number of hotel brands.

Thomas Cook travel shops belong to Hays Travel,nothing to do with Shearings.

I fear this is just the start of it, it will take years to recover from this. What we knew as 'normal' has gone forever, we need to adapt to a 'new normal' whatever that transpires to be.

It's the parent company, Specialist Leisure Group, that's gone into Admin and took Shearings, National Holidays as well as about 6-7 others with it. 

Sadly it's going to have a knock on effect as it's said that they still owe thousands to hoteliers and suppliers who are already feeling the pinch before this,

No absolutely not.  The government should not intervene to save a company if it is of no strategic importance.  It is really that simple.

We saw these coaches come to our workplace. There was a driver we spoke to who brought a WI group, enjoyed the fish and chips that much he came again, then brought other drivers lol wonder if they were driving under this group, can't remember tbh

My friend and I regularly take coach holidays and often the coaches are only half full. We’ve had good holidays with Shearings but, if they can weather the storm, there are a lot of other companies who will be only to glad to pick up Shearings business and hopefully some of their employees and hotels
