we already have three in the civic they will soon outnumber traditional retailers not what we want to help stimulate the centres pull to locals!

Looks like another card and gift shop the sign has gone up today, not good news for Clintons nor the civic centre this aint going to draw the customers into the civic which we need, cant see it lasting long

3 Empty Units 3 Charity Shops 2 Card Shops Poundstretcher hugely subsidised where is the investment in the civic centre. What is the long term vision of the landlords??? Clinton Cards next to vacate very soon more job losses one in one out what a disgraceful way of managing the centre. The people of Dronfield deserve a better thriving diverse and attractive centre to shop in.

My mother and myself called to look at the new card shop in the dronfield centre the other day we were quite happily browsing then we were felt to be pressured into buying when we were about to purchase in our own time. There are pleny of local alternative garden centres stocking better quality bedding plants at keener prices. Drove past today and was told they were shut due to covid 19 non essential shop protocol!!!. June 15th is the opening day for this why they thought they could open earlier to a new area is hard to understand you must realise you have to comply with government legislation. Not a great start to your new business had you checked with local government departments firstly you would have realised opening your shop early would have meant closure for non compliance. Clinton card shop gives and offers a relaxed browsing atmosphere in a non pushy way and also comply with government legislation. I see that you have now decided to offer click and collect I hope that this does not stray from the laid down directives for non essential shops in particular to HSE guidelines.

Card and gift shop dronfield civic centre suggest trading standards mislead them but if you do not follow government legislation the owners of this business only have themselves to blame you are no different to other non essential.shops you are making yourselves look very foolish and your comments in your window will be viewed very interestingly by the centres owners . We hope that your CCTV system is registered with the ico commission and does not record images beyond your front door

Yes, bit dire up there at present.

Geoff's DIY doing their bit - credit to them.

Poundstretcher - what can you say?! If they had sensible stock levels, they could operate a shop a tenth of the size. Have you ever seen so many sponges?! And what can you say about the staff?!

You have Clinton's and Cooplands, both (I think) in adminstration? Bet Fred has presumably just reopened. A newish coffee house which has been forced to close, as has the biggest draw, the sports centre.

There's truthfully no need to go there at present.

What shops do people actually want to see in the Civic Centre? Are we going to have to relocate the Post Office, Unstone Hill Farm Shop  and Coffee Central to there if we want the Civic Centre to  be more than just a car park?

Dronfield – Freehold Neighbourhood Retail Centre Investment

Dronfield Civic Centre, Units 1-14, Dronfield, S18 1PD

Offers in excess of £3,500,000

Just came across this on the allsop property consultancy site.  There is a brochure you can download from the site with rent terms rates and expiry dates.

The rents vary greatly between the units from £10000 upwards to over £200000 for what used to be the co-op sublet by poundstretcher for £80000.

Some units have had free rent, others have options built in to opt out early I would imagine if the civic continues to decline this will lead to more empty units.

Then there are three charity shops paying nearly £84000 between them for the annual rent, thats around 18% of the total annual income and poundstretcher accounting for 47%. There two card shops paying at the moment £19000 between them then the DIY shop at £14000. What is clear is the charity shops surprisingly seem to be paying higher rents than some of the other vendors for similar shop floor space.

There seems to be a lot of inconsistency between the annual rent charged between the units and with four units empty at the moment where is the investment opportunity as a retail shopping destination.

Very soon the newsagents will be closing its doors in november that will be another £30000 shortfall in the potential income but this investment has been put forwards as the newsagents as a current ongoing vendor. The Forge in Dronfield is also currently for sale and appears to be under offer at just over £1 million. What is the future for the high street / retail shopping for Dronfield? What will be the best investment option for the Civic Centre.

Two  cards shops one open and one closed under lockdown. Now one card shop is on one hand trying to petition the government to have card shops classified as essential then on the other stocking bread milk bacon cheese newspapers and trying to pursuade the local community that they would have not stocked these provisions has covid not popped up its ugly head. They need to be able to compete fairly within the local retail arena not try to be an open all hours ethical card shop. They are extremely costly and their level of service and understanding of what people want in dronfield is totally off the mark.
