There are several scenarios where a person could access and clear out a person's a/c. One of these being that the person was a carer or neighbour who was in the habit of getting cash for the relative and so be privy to their a/c details, pin, etc. A simple way of covering their tracks would be to remove all reference to the a/c in the deceased's house so it would be impossible to determine whether a crime had been committed.

With the bank's permission, the family is allowed to have access to reasonable costs associated with the funeral.

Could the person have claimed this?
