Tramlines 2020 - Now Cancelled.

Anyone had any updates regarding this years festival. I don't believe it will take place social distancing will be impossible. Think these guys are just hanging to everyone's money for as long has thay can.

Just write this year off regards to the Majority of events in Sheffield/around the Country.

I rate our festival chances slim,but put in 4 more sundays after ,and still rate it 50/50,so I think this event  is well before,but we will all have to await what boris has to say on all our events in Sheffield/England,its seems to me its going to be a bad year for music,but safety is all our main concern.

I doubt it will take place.  It's not so much that lockdown will possibly be eased but you'll still be expected to social distance. Not much chance of that at a festival & a lot of the acts perform in pubs over the Tramlines weekend & they certainly won't be open during the summer. 

 

Like Presley states, just write it off for this year.

Tramlines haven't made any announcements as yet, it is now 3 months (ie 12 weeks) away.

 

Presumably by now almost everything will be in place to put the event on, if they are allowed to.

 

The next government review of lockdown is a week or two away and the general view seems to be that will be a slight easing of lockdown - more businesses allowed to open and less strict rules on us being out and about - but all subject to social distancing still.

 

Events involving crowds of people socialising will be the last thing allowed, this could happen by the end of July or it might not be until Christmas. We simply don't know at this point. All depends on how well people are sticking to the current lockdown and how the numbers of infections look - the government will have to be confident Coronavirus is no longer spreading before such events are permitted.

 

Perhaps things will become clearer when the next lockdown review takes place and Tramlines will take that as their decision time.

I don't think there will be big festivals until there is a vaccine, and then reduced because there simply won't be alot the suppliers left.

basically once the data shows the virus is no longer spreading on any significant scale, that may well be the factor that speeds things up beyond everyone simply staying at home and isolating themselves. There is obviously quite some logistics to develop not only to ramp up to mass production of the vaccine  but also to administer it to the population!

 

Obviously I'm no expert and have no direct line to government, their advisors or the scientists so like most people, no idea!

There will be no festivals this Summer.

 

My guess is that they either refund everybody or they give the option to postpone to next year (in other words, you don't get your money back but you get a ticket next year instead).

andy I agree ,its a tricky situation and lives are at risk,so we will all have to work to what the government states,so we await boris to decide,then we will all have the answer

For all events there will be a deadline for cancelling the booking of venues, equipment, entertainment, traders (inc bars/catering), staff/volunteers and everything else without financial penalty, also a point where there isn't enough time to market the event or attract sponsorship.

 

I would assume Tramlines are pushing to that kind of limit, leave it as late as possible before pulling the plug and dealing with refunds/ticket transfers, in the hope there may be the possibility they can still go ahead.

 

Bit of a balancing act - people want something to look forward to enjoying once it is all over, traders and event organisers want to get back into business but at the same time health and safety is king.

its sad,but all festivals are important to a vibarant city and big or small they all have the same common factor,people being in contact or close,but safety is the main aim and nothing else can be said really.
