BigAl1   142 #13 Posted June 8, 2020 You can hardly blame radio Sheffield when the trams and destination dot matrix at the tram stops will all say the tram is going to Halfway unless Stagecoach and the PTE have had an epiphany and have started to show the destination of the tram
 Share this content via...

Thanks for the update - I have not been into town since the lock down so assumed that Stagecoach had done as they have in the past and continued to display the destination as the terminus on the front of their trams and that the PTE would continue to do the same on their dot matrix - glad to hear that someone has finally seen the light! I was told the difference is when a dedicated replacement bus is provided onward to the "normal" destination, then that normal destination is displayed to reassure those passengers that it is their tram. This year the normal local buses are utilised so passengers aren't connecting off trams so the tram's final destination is displayed.  Incidentally you can see what destinations are being displayed online - here is the link for the next departures from Castle Square towards Gleadless/Meadowhall/Parkgate https://www.stagecoachbus.com/bus-stop?busStop[Geocode][Grid][value]=WGS84&busStop[Geocode][Longitude]=-1.466078107162078&busStop[Geocode][Latitude]=53.38312594820886&busStop[Name]=Castle+Square+(South+Yorkshire+Supertram)&busStop[StopLabel]=9400ZZSYCAS2 Edited June 9, 2020 by Andy C
 Share this content via...

The "old 57" that First operates early morning and evening will also continue to run.  The link single ticket for one way bus-tram journeys via Middlewood will again be available for the SL1 and SL1a buses. Note in many cases the Dayrider/Megarider Silver ticket offering unlimited travel on all Stagecoach services in the area or the Citywide tickets offering unlimited travel on all buses and trams in Sheffield will offer better value and these include the 57/57a/58 as well as the SL1. the_bloke   17 #20 Posted June 10, 2020 Apparently the engineers severed a power cable and put most of Hackenthorpe in the dark this morning.
 Share this content via...

Fancy putting a power cable close to the tram tracks! Â Of course it could have been nothing to do with the engineers installing new tram track, perhaps a substation fault or something, I know the National Grid has had one or two outages around Sheffield recently.
