I don't want a shutdown either but given the fact that a lot of people seem incapable of being sensible it's inevitable. My opinion is sooner rather than later.

Germany appears to be having a problem.  The state of Bavaria, which includes Munich, is the first state to go into lockdown & isolate itself from the rest of the country.

Just heard the Radio 4 news & apparently the Germans are not only having a problem convincing many of the benefits of social distancing, many Germans are having 'Coronavirus parties'.

Germany is testing more people than any other ,currently 160.000 weekly, thats more than weve tested in 6 weeks! their death rate is very low,0.8%,some italian politcians have accused them of lying about their figures! Not much love lost between both countries 😀

If you haven't already listened to this then do.

It should be broadcasted on TV

I don't want to alarm anyone further but sometimes shock tactics are the only way ........

The spread of the virus is publicised as airborne droplets getting onto surfaces and being picked up on hands and then rubbed onto the eyes and face. It is not just social distancing people have to look out for.

Surfaces where anyone else has touched in the last 24 hours should be avoided and regularly disinfected.

People are still going to places where other congregate like religious establishments.

Please practice at home and save lives. As said, it is as simple and as stark as that.

Yup...and let my housebound 93 year-old mother-in-law starve to death.

As simple and stark as that?

Yep. thanks for linking it. I've shared on the UK taxi group (15k member) and I'll copy it on another forum I use.

Obviously it's 1 day out of date which is long time - but message same.

Wish this had been on tv on friday - and perhaps everyone not flock to seaside etc.

That is exactly what they didn't do. Their initial and very laughable approach last Friday to this pandemic was getting at least 60% of the people infected to somehow build a herd immunity among the population. Well, the scientific community and the WHO roundly criticised the government for advocating such a reckless approach. Then Imperial College release their modelling study for the UK and US and the government pretty much perform a complete U turn. We are acting weeks later than expected. We will pay in the form of unnecessary deaths.

Does it matter if the greater good is what is required. Or are you advocating that they should be selfish.

Dominic Cummings take on 'Herd Immunity' thesis leading the Sunday Times today.

"Herd immunity, protect the economy, and if that means some pensioners die, too bad".

Unfortunately for Cummings, many of those pensioners would be Tory voting brexiteers.

It's coming to something when you have to threaten to shut a mountain because people can't be bothered to take in advice that could possibly save them & their loved ones from death.

https://www.shropshirestar.com/news/health/coronavirus-covid19/2020/03/22/coronavirus-hundreds-head-to-snowdon-amid-socially-irresponsible-warning/

Maybe on the way out, they could have been handed hats to wear stating "Possibly diseased?"

Have read that the National Trust have closed their sites to discourage people from going to them.

If the Pubs are still shut when the Summer months come, easy solution !  Pubs with beer gardens can get around this problem, get the bar staff to serve drinks on a tray,   years ago, bar staff used to don white jackets  with a towel over the arm and come to tables inside or outside to collect orders then fetch the order to your table.  Im hoping to get a nobel prize for this ingenious idea.  :hihi:
