RJRB   684 #3 Posted March 24, 2020 There’s a thread somewhere on here several years ago, which I think basically said that Centrica were encountering problems in giving this out to the public, although the cameras were still operating and viewed in the control rooms. Why this should be such a problem ,who knows? We can still access the motorway cameras. Perhaps Planner 1 could update us.
 Share this content via...
muddycoffee   10 #4 Posted March 25, 2020 I think that the council would have to spend thousands on an expensive router and have staff to manage the service for public access and with all the cuts to council's grant from the central government over the last decade of austerity, there is no way it could be justified. If anyone has the money to sponsor the operation I'm sure it could be done.
 Share this content via...

No affordable solution was ever found to restore the public images.  The Police could see the images anyway.
 Share this content via...

Well...having PUBLIC  access to the cameras was a bit daft in reality.  Think about it.!
 Share this content via...

It’s down to money as usual.  No-one has been able to come up with a solution that is affordable.  The motorway cameras are owned by Highways England ( ie the government), not the Council.
