The Jam Cam thing? Nope that flaked out and never came back.

There’s a thread somewhere on here several years ago, which I think basically said that Centrica were encountering problems in giving this out to the public, although the cameras were still operating and viewed in the control rooms.

Why this should be such a problem ,who knows?

We can still access the motorway cameras.

Perhaps Planner 1 could update us.

I think that the council would have to spend thousands on an expensive router and have staff to manage the service for public access and with all the cuts to council's grant from the central government over the last decade of austerity, there is no way it could be justified.

If anyone has the money to sponsor the operation I'm sure it could be done.

Utter nonsense.

Public access only ceased because Capita ( the councils IT contractor) took out of use the old server that was used to give that access. No affordable solution was ever found to restore the public images.

The Police could see the images anyway.

Well...having PUBLIC  access to the cameras was a bit daft in reality.

Think about it.!

The council of course.

The old server was just something they used to post images for public viewing. Taking the server out of use did not affect the councils use of the cameras.

It’s down to money as usual.

No-one has been able to come up with a solution that is affordable.

The motorway cameras are owned by Highways England ( ie the government), not the Council.
