Supermarket/food Deliveries

Recommended Posts

Had my first order delivered from Iceland this morning. Only ordered it yesterday so was surprised to get this slot. Delivery man was very polite and placed the order in the hall without coming in. I would definitely have them again.

We are a bit confused about our shopping .  We fill the order out online  currently 2 only of all items  BUT!  Alot of the items  say not available try alternative, and they're unavailable too!

What we are confused about is that our order is for 3 weeks time, why is it saying unavailable???.

Because tens of thousands of people are trying to place orders online for thier food, and they simply don't have the capacity to fulfil all these orders right now.

As online  delivery slots and click and collect are becoming harder to get and waiting times are longer, myself and 3 neighbours are placing an order and sharing the groceries between us. Hopefully this will save the delivery drivers time and we all get the groceries we need.

Check for restrictions. Tesco have limited online orders to 80 items.

Unable to register an elderly (83) person for online shopping with Sainsbury’s (not allowing new accounts to be created). What do the elderly need to do to get online shopping?

Any advice?

Thanks.

My two pennorth? Forget it.

We've been trying the same for a housebound 93 year-old widow, but even she doesn't qualify as a vulnerable person.

Age alone doesn't qualify as a vulnerability since S's updated their site.

I'm afraid you'll probably arrive at the same conclusion - you'll have to do the shopping for him/her and deliver it.

Have you tried this Sainsbury's telephone number? Here is what the site says if you are registered when you go on to book a slot.

Yes thank you. We tried that number, unfortunately it was automated, and didn't seem possible to get through to a human being before the call was disconnected.

We had the same problem. We found someone local who could do her shopping when they went to do theirs. Getting anything delivered is an impossibility as far as we can tell, the capacity is nowhere near enough. Tried all the smaller outfits too, but none will take new customers.

Yeah. Makes a bit of a mockery of the governments "stay home" advice.

Before this, supermarket home deliveries amounted to something like 7% of the market and the infrastructure matches this. Growing the infratstructure rapidly to meet current demand isn't going to be easy or quick.
