Janus   28 #1 Posted March 6, 2020 Despite shops continuing to close in town, it is reported that Rotherham is the fasted growing economy in Yorkshire. There is obviously a lot more going on beyond retail. After the demise of the steel & coal industries, it would be interesting to see a documentary highlighting in detail the major manufacturing outlets there are now.  "GVA, or Growth Value Added, is the increase in the value of the economy due to the production of goods and services" http://www.rothbiz.co.uk/2019/05/news-6926-rotherham-has-fastest-growing.html?m=1  https://ibb.co/ZM8jZsW
 Share this content via...

MillerMike   10 #4 Posted March 6, 2020 Apart from it being very restricted data in a measure that’s open to interpretation all it really amounts to is that Rotherham has come first in a snail race.
 Share this content via...
Longcol   577 #5 Posted March 6, 2020 I wonder if it's anything to do with the Advanced Manafacturing Park - a Sheffield enterprise just over the border?
 Share this content via...
WalkleyIan   10 #6 Posted March 7, 2020 Roterham has AMP1 site , AMRC with Boeing, the McLaren composites centre, the rapidly expanding  new town  at Waverley, the redevelopment of the Orgreave site, the planned retail centre bus station , church and school and a big wedge of Objective 1 restructuring cash from the EU for the town centre.  That little outpost of Rotherham is becoming expensive to develop in now as land value has gone up . It will now be mostly housing and retail,  Much of the next phase will be on the Sheffield side, the old airport where Boeing's new factory has been built.  Now if only there was some decent public transport infrastructure linking it to Sheffield & Rotherham. As that’s what is hampering development now. Crying out for a tram or at least a railway station at Waverly.
 Share this content via...

Because it was in the wrong place. If it had been at Todwick wich has miles of flat open land everywere around it it would have had a chance but no that was common sence
 Share this content via...
