There has been a material change since the Scottish referendum of 2014, 8 years ago.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes 👍🏻

Possibly, but I would let that change settle down and take affect, so the 10 year rule is valid.

The Queen's death deals massive blow to Nicola Sturgeon's Scexit hopes as support plummets

Well if it's anything like the Express groups Brexit predictions, that's bad news for the union:

It isn't an Express groups poll.  It's been well reported since the death of Queen Elizabeth II that appetite for any of the UK nations to leave the Union has diminished.  Nicola Sturgeon isn't going to look good pushing for another independence referendum next year when the King's Coronation is taking place.

That poll lead could be wiped out in a second when the Scots discover how Truss's governments policies will affect the country.

Sturgeon wouldn't want to hold a poll during the year of the new king's coronation but there's no particular reason to stop preparing for a poll to be held later - Surgeon's playing a long game here. Also don't forget, the SNP's policy is to retain the monarchy after independence, Charles will still be their king if they do leave.

Are the Scottish people really going to make such a monumentous decision based on a here-today-gone-tomorrow Tory government in Westminster? if they do they're daft.

Not based on a "here-today-gone-tomorrow Tory government", based on a series of Tory governments. Don't forget it was a Tory government that took them out of the EU against their wishes after a previous Tory government had said the only way to remain in the EU is to vote no in the 2014 independence referendum.

Support for independence has been slowly growing in Scotland. The death of the queen has caused a downward blip, but that is very unlikely to be anything other than temporary.

The Express got a new Editor in 2018, he was very keen to shift away from the sensationalist nonsense that the paper had been known for.

So perhaps you're seeing the difference between the views of the two editors.

Would you now…

…so, err, where does that 10 year rule come from?

Constitutionally, I mean?

After leaving one EU club, we're going to wonder into another.  Hilarious.

Sounds like a good idea to establish closer relations with our friends in Europe to look at issues of mutual benefit. Do worry though, it’s a sensible idea so Truss and her band of headbangers will reject it.

Our close friends in Europe? It was suggested by Macron so something is definitely up, maybe it's just another way of promoting his much wanted EU army.

This is a bit of a clue:

"Critics, within the EU, are wary of what they see as a "vague" French-led project.

There's also suspicion that France, a known sceptic of EU expansion, wants to create a "parking lot" for countries who aspire to join the European Union."
