Three in four UK firms unprepared for Brexit, study shows

Only one in four companies are prepared for Britain’s full departure from the European Union in five months time, company directors have warned.

Manufacturing firms in particular are unlikely to be ready for the end of the transition period with a lack of clarity on rule changes a bigger impediment to Brexit preparation than the need to focus on the coronavirus pandemic, according to research from the Institute of Directors.

Almost half of 1,000 company directors polled by the IoD said they were unable to prepare now for the changes needed from 31 December, with almost one in three saying they could only make adjustments once the details were clear.

Oh dear

She knew that all along. She was a remain supporter, then supported brexit for career reasons (one can only assume). And now is trying to shift blame onto others, again presumably for career reasons.

It's already being labelled the "Farage Garage" 😂😂

There's some irony that Damian Green is complaining... didn't know what he was voting for!

You say that, but I've seen her on the Daily Politics and she was well out of her depth, basically talking nonsense.

She voted remain in the referendum, then accepted the result. Nothing wrong with that.

Apparently she does not accept the result anymore. She no longer wants the consequences that come with brexit.

Who in their right mind or without a vested interest would.

Ashford 2016 referendum result: 59% Leave, 41% Remain.

Ashford 2019 GE19 result: 37k Cons (Damian Green, hold), 13k Labour, about 8k between the 3 left (Greens, Libdems).

I'd say they're getting what they repeatedly voted for, no?

With a bit of Sunak's Eat Out subsidy to help bootstrap the food trucks sure to sprout down there like weeds, it even looks like there's a bit of method to the madness?

 ;)

That must be why the plans were drawn and land bought in secret :? :hihi:

Cost of enforcing the borders post Brexit is £7bn.

This Brexit dividend is sweet.

What does that total figure include?

CAPEX (Farage Garage, similar others between mainland & NI, barriers & buildings & IT system & whatnot...?) only?

With or without annualised running costs (eg 500 extra border guards)?

Industry costs factored in (50000 customs forms fillers-checkers, extra stockholding overhead, EU EORI/licences/biz visas...) or not?

The land had already been earmarked previously as the Stour Park industrial park, so the description of the area as an environmental idyll is somewhat a misnomer as it was going to be built on anyway & clearly had permission to be built on.  This is only a slight change of use.   I can't see many, if any, houses on the photograph or evidence of a nearby hospital?

https://www.kentonline.co.uk/ashford/news/work-yet-to-start-on-brexit-lorry-park-site-230313/

And there doesn't appear to have been any previous objection from reading the Guardian piece to Amazon  possibly taking over the site, no doubt with hundreds of lorries running in & out 24/7, 365 days a year if any of their other warehouse sites are to go on?   Don't the locals want jobs & the additional businesses that will set up as support infrastructure?  Don't tell me they're all wealthy bankers who commute to London everyday.?

Careful you don't trip over the Gurniad's agenda & getting upset on your behalf.
