Consequences Of Brexit [Part 9] Read First Post Before Posting

Recommended Posts

Before anyone posts about the budget and that tax changes to alcohol were only posible because we have left the EU.

Even Dishi Rishi tells lies, its not just Johnson, they all do it.

On 1 November 2015, the Belgian government increased the excise tax on alcoholic beverages. For 70 cl bottles of spirits containing 40% of alcohol, the tax change was equivalent to €2.43 per bottle.

In 2014 it was announces that Beer duty will be cut by 1p per pint, while taxes on ordinary cider and spirits are to be frozen, Chancellor George Osborne has said.  The cut in the price of a pint is the second in two years, and was welcomed as "fantastic news" by the industry.

The alcohol duty escalator, which sees prices rise at a rate of 2% above inflation, has again been scrapped.

It tends to be the effect on the coastline that people really notice.

England likes to boast about its 77 blue flag beaches - more than Cyprus, Mexico and South Africa.

It's not a completely fair comparison though... due to very little tidal activity discharging  off Mediterranean  tourist beaches would kill the economy completely...France's figures are far less impressive on it's Atlantic coast and incredibly includes its overseas territories in the Pacific and Indian Ocean.

He's the head of the Office of Budget Responsibility.

The consequence of Brexit is that it will cost us 4% of GDP, or twice the negative impact of COVID-19.

Or possibly the illegal migrants who desperately need to relieve themselves as they disembark.

Quite unlike French fishermen, whose backs Macron has. Remember the UK recently reneging on the negotiated fishing access rights? To the surprise of no-one, here comes the flipside:

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2021/10/25/france-preparing-implement-go-slow-strategy-british-lorries/

Would be very problematic for UK exporters, I’m afraid.

Now implemented and set to start next Tuesday 02 November, unless the UK grants the balance of fishing licenses to which it contractually agreed before then.

For the avoidance of doubt, that is the outstanding 50% of licenses agreed, not the ‘2%’ disingenuously peddled by Johnson’s supporters.

This is very inauspicious. Johnson & Frost may not have enough time to manoeuvre this away by then and, as France interdicted a ‘British’ trawler fishing in its waters without a license today, they don’t have the luxury of privacy from the public eye for that manoeuvring, either.

Chair of the "Office For Budget Responsibility".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Office_for_Budget_Responsibility

"The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) is a non-departmental public body funded by the UK Treasury, that the UK government established to provide independent economic forecasts and independent analysis of the public finances."

The organisation that says;

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/oct/28/economy-recovering-covid-brexit-eu

"the long-term impact of Brexit will be more than twice as great as Covid. It thinks that Brexit will reduce UK productivity, and hence GDP per capita, by 4%, while the impact of Covid on GDP will only be 2%".
