Consequences Of Brexit [Part 9] Read First Post Before Posting

Recommended Posts

The unelected creatures of patronage in the controversially undemocratic House of so-called Lords have voted not to give democratically elected ministers in the Commons the power over whether to notify Brussels of any future UK state aid decisions. They have also voted against a protocol designed to avoid a hard border on the island of Ireland.

Still the Remainers oppose Brexit and the democratic will of the electorate. Close down the Lords, dump these unelected parasites into the street. Stuff EU rules on state aid - we shouldn't be notifying a foreign power of anything to do with the aid we give to our own people and economic sectors.

Undemocratic EU and the Lords united in defying the June 2016 democratic outcome. They have more in common with Trump than they do us.

Respect and support the democratic outcome of the vote!

Yet again, you fail to understand the true nature of our democracy. No surprise there then.

The House of Lords. Undemocratic. Unelected. Wholly unaccountable to the British people. Appointed by patronage. Lavishly rewarded just for attendance. Completely out of touch with decent working people.

I think I understand the nature of our so-called democracy very well. It's no surprise that Remainers support an unelected, unaccountable privileged elite over the working class.

Twas always so.

And yet, you are happy for power crazed, ideologically driven ministers to override our parliament in order to break international law.

How low can you leavers go ?

Don't forget the unelected bureaucrats pushing the agenda as well (good old dom) - didn't we have a vote recently where unelected bureaucrats were deemed to be a problem? 🤔

It's odd to see CarBoot lose his head over the Lords' vote last night, when MPs in Parliament can override that vote anyway they choose, and Tory MPs wil be doing so at the government's bidding.

It's almost like CarBoot doesn't know, never mind understands, how legislation gets made in the UK.

Irrespective of what noddy Conservative MPs do now, nobody's blinking. Not Brussels, not Dublin, not Biden, not Barnier, not <etc>. And nobody outside of the UK('s headbangers) is buying the EU-blaming narrative, unsurprisingly.

Around 5 days to go now, lads. Then it gets really interesting, because the procedural clock is effectively run out :heyhey:

The House of Lords is a barrier to the democratisation of UK politics and it has protected the profit system for centuries.  Abolishing it is a primary concern to true democrats.

I thought we voted to take back control and to let our parliament decide our laws.

Then they start whining when our parliament decides our laws.

Ah well.

Defending the unelected, unaccountable, privileged elite again.

Must you always support the establishment?

Somethings never change.

The House of Lords is quintessentially British.

More so than Spitfires, Custard and Mr Bean put together.

And accessorilly -and pragmatically- merely a checks-and-balances speed bump in the British legislative system, firmly in the hands and under the full (final) control of Parliament. That has been the lay of the land in the UK for centuries.

For such a staunch proponent of Leave, you make for a really poor patriot, more uninformed about your countries' institutions -and their functioning- than most.

The only people who look fondly upon the "quintessionally British" House of Lords are the ruling establishment class, the BBC and political journalists. Unless you are confusing the splendour of the buildings, the Palace of Westminster, with the corruption and greed that is inherent within.

I have never known a working class person to have a good thing to say about it. You, sadly, are deeply misinformed if you believe that the Lords is held in high regard by the majority of British people. It is held in contempt, at best.
