Late: Capture the Night

Museums Sheffield will be in the fortunate position of having three fantastic photography exhibitions across its three sites in May 2020: The Sheffield Project at Weston Park Museum; Photomarathon at Millennium Gallery; and Invisible Wounds at the Graves Gallery.

Inspired by the art form, Millennium Gallery will host a Late on Friday 1st May (6:30pm – 9:30pm), with talks, activities and workshops, accompanied by a bar and DJ all night.

Armed with any camera – smart phone or better – visitors are invited to capture the night in workshops, games and activities.

Lates are some of Museums Sheffield’s biggest events and take place every other month. They are free events that encourage new audiences to enjoy the museums, through a free, fun and unique night out.

Contributing to the Late

We are looking for people to collaborate with on this event.

We are looking for:

  • -       Activity demonstrators (e.g. cyanotype prints, pinhole cameras, zoetrope, camera obscuras etc)

  • -       Photography workshop leaders

  • -       Speakers for talks

  • -       Local photographers to submit their shots for our rolling photography projection

  • -       Anyone who can contribute in another way!

Contributing to a Museums Sheffield event is a great opportunity to tell people about what you do in a new way. It’s a fun and rewarding means to share your skills and encourage new people to enjoy our city’s arts and heritage.

If you’d be interested in getting involved or would like to know more, please get in touch: events@museums-sheffield.org.uk.

Important Information

Audience: these events are about bringing new audiences to the museum so it’s best to assume no prior specialised knowledge and avoid technical language

Costs: there is a budget for speakers and workshop leader fees, but we are a registered charity with very limited funding so we try to keep costs to a minimum

Health and safety: depending on the nature of your involvement, you may need to provide a risk assessment
