Plane In Distress?

Recommended Posts

There's been an plane circling over Hillsborough for a little while now, at first I assumed it was the helicopter for the football. I've just heard someone comment that it is in distress and needs to land! Anyone know anything about this?

More likely due to the pre-match damage of 2 trams by Millwall fans thugs that they have the chopper out.

People around Gleadless last week thought they were seeing a plane in distress, turned out to be a low flying police plane. Never knew they had them up north until then.

Ahh that's probably more likely. Thanks

I saw this tonight circling  over what I think is Sharrow/Highfield/ Heeley area for about 30 mins . (Hard to  be specific as it was a distance away.) It wasn't  visible on Flightradar.

The abpve post from shepcanon would explain it.

I saw it a few weeks ago circling the city center....

Never spotted on flight radar....

Maybe it's photographing the city? - as it seems to be going area by area over a few weeks...

The NPAS helicopters won't appear on FlightRadar anymore as the criminals were using it to see if it was heading their way.

There has been a survey plane in this area over the last few weeks, flying out of East Midlands that has been on flights of four or more hours.

(I'm an aviation geek)

Probably obvious answer, but what makes the plane any better than a chopper?

Faster to get to places and probably quieter, but surely not as manoeuvrable.

Could be a lot less bovver than a hover.

Maybe this is the answer.

C&P

So, it really depends what you are looking at. As far as cost, fixed wing aeroplanes tend to be more expensive to buy but less expensive to fly. ... The difference is mainly in fuel, the helicopter requires much more fuel than the aeroplane to stay aloft
