Huawei Has Been Allowed To Help Build 5g

Recommended Posts

It has just been announced that Huawei is to be allowed to help build the 5G network in the UK.

They will be prohibited from being involved in "sensitive areas" such as military and nuclear.

The report said that the USA will not be happy with this  decission, and that this may jeopardise the potential UK/US trade deal.

It's worth noting that the UK security services audited the Huawei software's source code and found no back doors. There were lots of security issues though and you may not need back doors if you can exploit them.

The NSA have a history of adding back doors into US comms equipment. Security issues are regularly found in US comms equipment too, although maybe not as many as with Huawei's.

It's also worth noting that Huawei also allegedly refused the NSA's request to put backdoors into their kit in 2014 - which some believe is part of the reason the US is making a lot of this noise.

"Here’s the sad truth: our special relationship is less special now that the U.K. has embraced the surveillance state commies at Huawei," said Sasse, who sits on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.

Still obsessed with "commies", they're so pathetic.

It's been one day since Blighty OK'd Huawei for parts of 5G – and US politicians haven't overreacted at all. Wait, what? Surveillance state commies?

But we haven't done what trump wants. As for Brexit everyone has their opinions, mine is it wasn't stupid but we'll see who's right in a few years🙂

The point is, he's sticking his oar in, threatening us, once we leave we DO need a deal, we will be the desperate ones, not them. With the eu, this sovereignty we didn't have, where we didn't accept the Euro or the schengen zone.

whats the difference?

He can ask doesn't mean we have to give in. There were things like immigration we had to go along with being in the EU so not really much difference. There are plenty of other countries to have trade deals with than the US. It will all depend on how much backbone our MPs have as to whether they let us be ordered around by the likes of the US. No one can be 100% on how things will go now we're no longer in the EU but we didn't back down tho the US here, we'll see how things go in the future
