Janus 28 #1 Posted January 23, 2020 (edited) I was reading about the dog walker that lost 5 dogs while out walking them. She claimed that the dogs had simply run off and never returned. Each dog was chipped. This seems a really strange case. The unfortunate owners feel that their dogs are no longer alive. My first thoughts when I read the article was that the dogs had been sold on. Very strange. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-51220730 Edited January 23, 2020 by Janus Link
 Share this content via...

Very strange. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-51220730 That is a really strange case, personally I ruled out her selling them. For them to all disappear in a single day she would have had to have sold them all together or to the same person, very unlikely. She claimed they ran off when shots were fired nearby, you would expect some of the dogs would have been found and returned if that had happened. Some family members have mentioned potential mental health issues, is it possible she simply snapped, killed and disposed of the dogs somewhere? neilf 10 #3 Posted January 23, 2020 Its a very sad and strange case, I cant imagine what the dogs owners are going through! they become a part of the family, but sadly I think they are probably dead after all this time,
 Share this content via...

Looking at google maps the area to the west of the woods has a huge number of pig styes. Perhaps the dogs got into those fields and got shot by a farmer for pig worrying? https://www.google.fr/maps/place/Hopwas,+Tamworth,+UK/@52.648139,-1.7506602,1809m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x4870a90203a972f3:0x5f4a22a9a88a15cb!8m2!3d52.6432285!4d-1.7365413?hl=en&authuser=0 There is an army barracks just up the road (HQ of the Staffordshire Regiment) so believable shots were fired nearby? That happening 5 times? Equal chance of all getting hit by very small meteors!
 Share this content via...

Wasn't saying that - just that from post #2 "she claimed they ran off when shots were fired nearby" - is a possibility given that the area is used as a firing range etc. And then a number of things could be in the mix. I suppose an awful lot of humans don't bat an eyelid when offered a roast pork sandwich.
 Share this content via...

That's a possibility for at least the two pugs, it's a high-fashion breed fetching good money. Could also be that they were stolen (...or she sold them-) as bait dogs for fights, regrettably it's a lot more widespread than people think. It doesn't appear that any of the 5 dogs were hunting breeds, so unlikely they'd have gone over to the pig farm/tracked scent out of recall range. But by the same observation, possible that shots (reasonably close by, say within a mile) could have spooked them.
 Share this content via...
