Got return to Bridlington for 40p, and Lincoln the day they became available. Nice little treat for other half and I for the weekend to get away.
Know a fair few people had issues with the website, seemingly crashed.

@Andy C

Are the carriages really full, with some passengers standing too on these journeys?

Not all day every day.

Generally advance purchase deals where you have to choose a specific time are only available at the less busy times and in limited numbers, they are designed to fill seats that would otherwise be empty. Hopefully Northern have got that right - it can always be difficult to predict how many people will turn up on the day on flexible walk up tickets.

Of course, the tickets assume the continued existence of Northern Rail- but see BBC News today at https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-51048896 .

its a franchise so the tickets will remain valid

Well, I managed to get a couple of trips booked at promotional prices. Day out in Manchester from Dore & Totley station for 20p return and a day out in Hebden Bridge from Sheffield station for £5.90 return (£5.80 advance single there and 10p single back). Both bargains, especially as I was planning on going to Manchester for the beer festival regardless!

Thank you for clarifying  how things work out at the various times of day. What you explained  makes sense.
